Metal Detectors - How They Work

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Today there are metal detectors which are small enough to be hand held and you will often find them being used at security points at airports and train stations across the world where they will be able to locate a metal object which has been detected by a walk through system.

There are some which can be carried in order to scan for metal objects in the ground such as nails, loose change or landmines. Any such hand held metal detector operates very much on the same principals as a walk through metal detector as they emit time varying electromagnetic fields and will then listen for waves coming back from conducting objects. There are even some models which will further analyze the returned waves to distinguish which common metal it is.

Certainly for sometime now hand held metal detectors have been used for searching for landmines (unfortunately a many landmines are now largely made from plastic) and so with new technologies such as neutron activation and ground penetration systems which are being developed in order that searches can be carried out for such landmines that are not made from metal.

Most hand held metal detectors work by use of an electromagnetic field which detects the presence of any metallic objects that are hidden. There are two ways in which metal detectors use electromagnetism either active or passive and below is a short description of each type.

1. Active - This method illuminates some detection space say an opening through which you have to walk (walk through metal detector) or in the space directly in front of you with the use of a hand held version. Energy which is reflected from or passes through the detection space is affected by the presence of any conductive material and the detector detects metal by measuring these effects.

2. Passive - This method does not illuminate the detection space rather it takes advantage of the fact that every unshielded detection space is being permeated by the Earth's natural magnetic field and any Ferromagnetic object (metals such as iron which are capable of being magnetized) that is moving through this detection space will cause a temporary but detectable change in this natural field. Unfortunately, metal objects made from aluminum which is conducting but not Ferromagnetic can not be detected by a passive metal detector.

Metal detectors continue to evolve over time and now you know how they work.

J C Christian is an avid follower of metal detectors and metal detectors how they work. He runs an informational site that follows Garret Metal Detectors, Fisher Metal Detectors, Tesoro Metal Detectors, and Kellyco Metal Detectors just to name a few. A Relaxing Holiday in Beautiful Rimini, Italy

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Why not experience one of the best coastal resorts in Italy, Rimini? For beach lovers everywhere Rimini should be one of your top destinations as it is only 3 hrs from the city of Venice. Rimini happens to be one of the most popular beach destinations on Italy's East coast. Rimini is definitely worth a visit as it has a beautiful coastline and superb beaches that make it one of Italy's star attractions and best kept secrets at the same time.

There are some wonderful Rimini apartments to stay in situated in the centre of Viserbella. Directly on the sea, they have rooms with showers and private baths, balconies that overlook the sea, TV and air conditioning of course. You will find calm atmosphere here in which to completely relax and enjoy your holiday whilst here in Rimini. Here you will find a great choice in quality apartments that cater for every need.

Rimini's waters proved to be a deciding factor in improving the city's economic situation. Coast navigation and fishing are the main industries here in the city of Rimini. Because tourists from all over the world have been going to Rimini year in and year out, the tourist industry has taken off and its seaside resorts that offer world-class service and accommodation make this city very popular with everyone. Many people who have experience the Rimini magic come back for seconds!

If what's on your mind is a holiday by the sea but less crowded, Rimini is the answer. It is known in Italy to be the resort where people from all over can enjoy the sun, sea, sand and be enchanted by the cool Mediterranean Sea breeze. Having an Italian guide or phrasebook here is mandatory as the usual sight of bus filled foreign tourists is seldom seen in Rimini. This place is a get away from it all resort and a real gem of a find. It's not all sand and sea though; take a trip downtown to find designer shops and boutiques that will get you itching to use your credit card. There are also top-class restaurants, bars and nightclubs that you can find in Rimini. Also, Hotel Continental e dei Congressi and Hotel River are two of my favourite hotels where you can stop over.

So if you really wanted a coastal vacation in Italy, which is unspoilt and yet modern, head over to Italy's East Coast and book Rimini apartments to be sure of some fine accommodations.

Infinite Banking For Business - How to Make it Work

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Infinite Banking Systems are becoming a trusted vehicle for growing individual wealth. But there are also many practical and beneficial ways to apply the Infinite Banking concept to businesses.

Understanding the Infinite Banking System
The concept is the same. With the Infinite Banking System, you put yourself in the position of being your own bank. This is done through a dividend-paying whole life insurance policy. As your cash values begin to grow you can begin to lend yourself money. If you need to repair something in your home, for example, you can borrow the money from yourself using the cash values within your policy.

You set the loan amount, the interest rate and the payment schedule. When you pay the loan back, you pay yourself--with interest. So you are financing and making money on yourself, instead of paying that money and interest to a bank or other financial institution. Even better, your cash values will continue to earn interest and you may earn dividends on your entire pre-loan amount, as if you had never borrowed money.

Applying the Infinite Banking System to a Small Business
For a small business owner, the Infinite Banking System has a variety of potential benefits. Loans from your whole life insurance can be used to pay for legitimate business expenses, including:

• space rental
• new equipment
• office supplies
• bonuses
• corporate vehicles
• business travel

These are only a few ideas. The limits are infinite. And as with policies that serve individuals, the more you use the Infinite Banking System for business purposes, the more benefits you'll receive. You can create a cash side account or gain, simply as a bi-product of your regular business transactions.

So why would you do this? Because the IRS allows businesses to write off legitimate business interest expense. By funding business expenses through your dividend-paying whole life insurance plan, you create an investment return for yourself and a tax write off for the business. It's a win-win relationship. You, the individual, loan money to the business. The business pays back the loan amount plus interest to you, increasing your account cash values. The business gets to write-off the interest paid on the loan as a legitimate business expense.

While business owners can use their personal whole life policies to fund business expenses, policies can also be purchased by the company on key individuals, offering the same benefits of cash value liquidity, loan opportunities and tax advantages.

Making Infinite Banking Work for Larger Businesses
The concept of Infinite Banking has been an accepted practice in larger businesses and corporations for some time. These types of businesses obviously have a much greater need for capital--far bigger in scope and volume than an individual or small business does. But the Infinite Banking concept is carried out through Corporate Owned Life Insurance, and its counterpart, Bank Owned Life Insurance.

Corporate Owned Life Insurance
Corporate-owned life insurance, or COLI, is traditionally purchased to cover a business's key executives. These policies are also known as "key person" insurance. A corporation will purchase a life insurance policy on a key employee to cover the potential financial cost of losing him or her to unexpected death. The insurance coverage is intended to cover the cost of recruiting and training new talent and to offset the possible loss of business due to the key employee's absence. It also helps a company recoup the possible cost of benefit payouts to the deceased employee's family.

COLI accounts can be used in the same way as individual whole life policies. Corporations use their participating whole life insurance policies to build cash values. Just like with individual policies, contributions and gains accumulate tax-free, and loans can be made as needed for any business need.

Bank Owned Life Insurance
The financial industry has its own version of this type of insurance. Bank-owned life insurance, or BOLI, has been traditionally purchased by financial institutions for their key executives. And although its been an accepted practice for many years, its popularity is increasing. In 2008, for example, banks purchased $126.1 billion of whole life insurance.

Using COLI and BOLI as Infinite Banking Concepts
Because these corporate life insurance policies are usually for much larger amounts than individual policies, the potential for reinvestment and explosive cash value growth are much greater. Although the policies cover individuals, they are purchased to protect corporations and banks for their potential losses, boost Tier 1 capital and provide benefits that might not otherwise be affordable. So it is the corporation or bank that is the policyholder, and these purchasing institutions can use these policies much like an individual uses a participating whole life policy to fund the Infinite Banking System. Corporations can use the cash values within their policies to fund legitimate business expenses such as:

• Large equipment or machinery
• Employee retirement plan
• Employee Health & Wellness Plan
• Corporate Vehicles
• Your lease/building space
• Corporate Housing
Travel Expenses
• Business Loans
• Adding Fringe Benefits to Attract Key Personnel
• Business Acquisitions & Merger

Corporations and banks have long known the financial benefits of infinite banking through their COLI and BOLI policies. By using a dividend-paying life insurance policy as a platform for the Infinite Banking System, now smaller companies can enjoy these same benefits.

Scott Storace is a financial expert that teaches the Infinite Banking concept utilizing whole life insurance. This concept creates financial wealth by creating your own personal bank. Get your free Infinite Banking report for more information on the concept.

Becoming a Travel Nurse and Researching Travel Nurse Companies

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Seasonal and regional nurse shortages in the 1980s caused the emergence of travel nurse companies, which specialize in giving nurses the opportunity to travel anywhere in the United States where there is a nurse shortage. Since the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the nurse shortage to worsen over the next seven years, travel nursing is a field with expected strong growth. This fact can make anyone who values having a strong health care career want to become a travel nurse, except most people do not know how to become one.

In order to become a travel nurse, a person has to have an active state license as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or vocational nurse and be in good standing. A nurse also needs a minimum of a year of healthcare experience, preferably in a hospital setting. Then it is time to find a travel staffing agency, which will place them at an agreed number of job assignments around the country or locally.

Before deciding to settle for any nursing travel agency that happens to be listed online, it is highly recommended to looks at what areas in the United States are favorable to them. According to one travel nursing web site, Florida, California and Arizona have the most opportunities for nurses. However, if one wants to work and live somewhere else in the United States that is possible since travel nurses can work in all of the states. They just need to obtain the license of the state where they will work.

The next step of becoming a travel nurse is researching travel agencies. When performing research on travel companies and what they offer their clients, one needs to consider if the agency helps their clients obtain a state license or not. This factor helps determine how helpful the agency is and can help a person determine whether or not they want to work with the agency. While 27 states require nurses to obtain a license right from them in order to work there, the other 23 states do not. These 23 states entered an agreement with each other known as the Nurse Licensure Compact, which allows nurses to work in any of the 23 states with a license that was obtained from only one of the 23 states. According to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, these 23 states are Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Some travel nurse agencies will recruit specifically for an assignment, arrange contracts and assist in finding housing. Most agencies arrange the housing in their name while some allow the travel nurse to partake in finding and selecting the housing. If a travel nurse decides to go outside of the company when purchasing housing, most companies offer a housing stipend.

Some agencies offer a travel allowance, which may or may not cover all traveling costs. Some agencies offer healthcare insurance, licensure reimbursement, referral bonuses for referring travel nurses to them, stock investment, continuing education reimbursements, vacation and sick days.

Travel assignments can range from eight weeks to a year; however, the average majority of assignments are just thirteen weeks. At the end of an assignment, travel nurses can opt to stay at that location, if possible, or choose another available location. It is possible for nurses to sign up with more than one travel nurse agency and to change at will.

After researching travel nursing companies and a person has decided which travel company to work with, it is best to schedule an interview with the travel agency. During the interview the nursing company will assess a person's skills for placement. A recruiter will be assigned to the client to go over individual needs, goals and opportunities. The recruiter will contact the client when a matching position becomes available.

Working Overseas Travel Insurance

Image : http://www.flickr.com

According to a government website, there are approximately 900,000 Australians living and working overseas at any one time. Australians are renowned for their globetrotting - how often have you come across an Aussie serving behind a bar in even the most remote of places around the world?

There are a number of reasons you might be working overseas: maybe you're heading off to work in your company's overseas office; perhaps you're an independent contractor whose skills are in demand all over the globe; you could be studying overseas and need a part-time job; or maybe you're just young and filled with wanderlust but need to fund your travels.

Whether you're a backpacker with a holiday job or an expatriate working in New York you'll need some decent travel insurance. The risk of becoming a casualty of illness or a serious accident increases exponentially with the length of time you live away from home. The potential costs arising from unexpected incidents such as these, could leave you financially burdened for a very long time. For example, hospitalisation in some European hospitals can cost upwards of $1,000 a day. A travel insurance policy will go a long way towards minimising the possibility of monetary losses.

Here's a few things to look out for...

¥ Check to see that your particular occupation is covered.

¥ Be mindful of the fact that your policy may not extend to public liability cover whilst you're at work. Have a chat to your prospective employers - there's a very good chance that you'll automatically have access to public liability insurance through your employment contract.

¥ Please note that it is unlikely that any insurer would cover you at all for any work involving the use of mechanical or industrial machinery. However, if you are, ask them if they can extend cover for you.

¥ Typically, "light" or "non-manual" work such as bar and restaurant work, office work, nursing and even fruit picking would be covered but you will need to check with your insurance supplier.

Don't forget to ensure that you have all your relevant employment documentation with you and check to see if you need a special working visa! You might like to take a look at the Australian Government DFAT website http://www.smartraveller.gov.au that will give you excellent guidance and information on working overseas.

Getting a Chinese Visa - Six Types of Chinese Travel Visas

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Getting a Chinese visa is necessary for any U.S citizen/resident intending to travel to China. The type of Chinese travel visa that you will need depends upon the nature of your trip. It's important that all travelers bear the correct documentation, including the proper class of visa, in order to enter the country.

Six different types of Chinese travel visas are available. Different types of travel to the country require different classes of visas. Anyone getting a Chinese visa must apply for the correct type. The following is a list of those classes which apply to American tourists and what they mean for you and your trip:

1) Tourist visa (L-visa): This is the most commonly applied for type of Chinese travel visa. Tourist visas are issued to American citizen/residents who are traveling to the country for the purposes of sightseeing, visiting friends or family or for other personal reasons. Tourists possessing an L-visa cannot conduct business or work while in the country.

2) Business visa (F-visa): The F-visa is the second most commonly-issued Chinese travel visa. Any person intending to conduct business in the country must carry a valid F-visa. "Business" refers to conducting "an investigation, a lecture, to do business, [participate in] scientific-technological and culture exchanges, short-term advanced studies or internship." Stay in China on a business visa is limited to six months or less. The F-visa does not allow a visitor to obtain employment within the country.

3) Employment/Work visa (Z-visa): This type of permit allows a foreigner to work in China. The foreigner's family members would also be issued a Z-visa.

4) Student visa (X-visa): Foreigners who want to study in China can obtain an X-visa. This permit must be transferred within thirty days of arrival in China to a Residence Permit. The Residence Permit is issued by the public security bureau in the town where you will be living/studying. Your allowable length of stay in the country will be determined at that time. Usually the Residence Permit is issued for the length of the program of study. Students with an X-visa must supply proof that they are registered as students and proof of the length of the program of study. Sometimes students can study in China with an F-visa. Stipulations apply and must be clarified with the Chinese consulate. Students are only allowed to study up to six months with an F-visa.

5) Crew Visa (C-visa): This is a special type of permit issued only to workers such as airline crews, pilots and stewards who enter and exit the country periodically for work purposes. Extended stays are not usually permitted with C-visas other than those required for work.

6) J-1/J-2 Visa: This type of visitor's permit is issued to news crews and correspondents who come to China for short term stays for the purposes of news coverage/reporting. These visas are also issued to dependents of news reporters and crews working in China. Allowable length of stay is usually determined on a case-by-case basis and generally. J-1 and J-2 visas generally cannot be used for long-term stays (more than a few months.)

Anyone getting a Chinese visa must fill out the proper application form. Chinese travel visa applications are available at passport processing outlets, online passport agencies and U.S. Post offices. Those who are unsure of what type of visa they require should contact the nearest Chinese consulate office. Citizens getting a Chinese visa- must first hold a valid U.S. passport.

High Paying Jobs

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When I was a young woman, long before I met my husband and started our family, I never hesitated to go to were the good paying jobs were. Never! Sometimes, most of the time in fact, it took me out of my comfort zone. Away from family, friends and all things familiar and there was generally a period of adjustment. But the benefits of making those moves proved lucrative. I was able to save toward my dream of becoming a world traveler, often repeating this process over and over. Work, save, travel. Work, save, travel. Later, after I met my husband, we both went off together and saved enough in a short period of time, to outright buy a 5 acre piece of property. And I am not talking about highly skilled labor necessarily, just going to places were labor was in demand and wages were at a premium.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of places to go to get the best paying jobs. Some are within your own country, some are overseas like Dubai. It doesn't have to take all your time, or cost a fortune -- in fact, you'll be surprised by how easy, inexpensive, and fast it really is. There are a few simple prerequisites before you jump into your car, train, or plane to your designation, all it takes is a little effort to secure a good paying job

  1. Put a good resume together. First and foremost. If you are lacking in this department, there are many professional services that will help you compile a resume that will capture the attention of potential employers.
  2. Decide the nature of the work you would like to do. What would you be able or willing to do for a relatively short period of time. Mining, logging, professional driving, cooking are just a few that I can think of that pay well. If necessary you could upgrade your skills a little just to cap off your resume and ensure a good job.
  3. Decide were you want to go. Locally, within your own state, province or country. Or the best yet, overseas. There is a killing to be made overseas.
  4. Before you jump into the boat, Research the place you want to go. Are they looking for employees, what are the accommodations, rentals etc like. What is the wage bracket? Benefits, holidays etc etc. Do you need a passport, travel visa, vaccinations? What are the laws, rules, regulations that may apply to these companies or countries?
The benefits of taking the leap and going to these outlying reaches for jobs are endless. Money earned and saved. Routinely an excellent benefit plan. Since the job location is as a rule remote, holidays or downtime are often plentiful... I recall making many trips back home for visits. It was a smart move on my part, I was able to fulfill my ambitions. Whatever your goals are, be it travel, go to school, buy property, this may be the route for you despite your age.

If I was young again, or circumstances were different for me,I head straight for Dubai. Dubai is an extremely rich country. Lots of money to spend and spread around. You have all seen the pictures... Dubai supports a luxurious lifestyle, is actually very liberal with few restrictions compared to other Arabic countries. It is peaceful, virtually crime free. More than anything else, a big salary packet,100% tax free and no income tax at all. You cannot expect from any other country. The idea is not that far fetched, give it a try, or at least a little research. Its not the far out of reach.

Components of Integrated Learning vs. Computer Training

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Computer training and integrated learning are two different concepts, often associated but very different. Integrated Learning is an alternative to other methods, such as computer training classes, which consider that learning only may occur in separation from other activities.

Computer training is the instruction or course whose means of delivery is a computer, either via software or through static applications available online. Computer training courses are designed for individual learning, although some companies have set a computer training class through the Internet.

Integrated Learning is integrated by five different components: assess, learn, reinforce, support and validate, all of them components that do not separate education from common activities in the individual's life, including work, travel, leisure, and even housekeeping and other every-day issues.

On the other hand, computer training courses are designed in the belief that an individual should only focus his/her mind on the course, taking out of the mind all other daily-life activities. Computer training is usually referred to as Computer-based training (CBT) and computer training courses addressed as courseware.

Courseware was a very popular learning method in the early 1990s, and today, it may be delivered via computer training classes with software installed on a single computer through intranet, downloaded from the Internet, or taken over the net as an Internet computer training class.

Both, integrated learning and computer training courses offer almost any conceivable subject to any age individuals or as a service to businesses and educational entities so they can offer this facility directly to the people who want or need to learn.

Popular computer training courses include all types of computer-related studies, from the learning on how to run a particular application, to learning skills as computer network technicians, or developing skills in computer programming language.

Originally, setup by the Integrated Learning Foundation, Integrated Learning was created like a new alternative in 1994, documenting and promoting diverse methods of learning. The organization was only live for a whole year but the concept of Integrated Learning lives on until today.

Assessing initiates the learning process, Learning provides the solutions, Reinforcing provides the resources to retaining the highest percentage of information a student learns, supporting helps the student complete the learning cycle, and the In the Validate component of the Integrated Learning, the identify to acquired knowledge, and skills gained.

Computer training courses are provided anywhere, any-time computer training with two primary models in computer training classes, synchronous, with the aid of an assigned instructor, or asynchronous, when the computer training class is self self-directed.

Depending or your particular needs, the approach to learning and the access, you are the only one who can determine which is best in the long run, Integrated Learning or Computer Training.

Natalie Aranda writes on training and technology. Computer training is the instruction or course whose means of delivery is a computer, either via software or through static applications available online. Computer training courses, Cisco CBT for instance, are designed for individual learning, although some companies have set a computer training class through the Internet.

How You Can Earn an Income and Travel or Live Overseas

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Does the thought of just being able to get on a plane and go somewhere - anywhere - appeal to you? Do you have the travel bug, or are you perhaps actually dreaming of taking flight and settling down completely in a brand new location overseas?

It seems that increasingly in this day and age with relatively cheap air travel available, (not including the carbon cost of flying around the world of course), and many websites, TV programmes and magazines committed to extolling the delights, virtues, sites and attractions of nations all around the world, that more and more of us want to see the world for ourselves up close and personally!

Taking a vacation for a couple of weeks every year is no longer sufficient for us and even the baby boomer generation are getting in on the act and planning their retirement years abroad!

The one thing we all have in common though is having to find a way to finance our travel and exploration plans. So, while the baby boomers can sell their homes and cash in their pensions maybe, what about the rest of us who actually have to still work for a living to make ends meet – is there a way to live abroad or travel the world and work and earn an income sufficient enough to keep us in the manner to which we have become accustomed?

The simple answer is yes – here and three ways how you can earn an income and travel or live overseas…

1) Learn to teach English – one of the most popular ways that many native English speakers find to fund their exploration abroad is to learn how to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL) to young learners and adults.

With a well accredited course and high pass marks under your belt you can take the skills you learn overseas with you and teach and spend after school time, at weekends and in the holiday periods using the money you earn to travel round the country in which you’re working for example.

International House TEFL courses and any course accredited by the Cambridge Examination Board in the UK are worth considering and TEFL is a truly flexible qualification and skill to have.

2) Learn to teach a recreational sport like diving – if you become a dive master or instructor for example you can spend time in exotic places teaching tourists how to dive!

The money isn’t always incredible unless you run your own dive school, but the wage will be enough to allow you to live abroad in a fun location. Diving is just an example of a recreational pursuit you could teach – think about the location you’d like to live in and what skills may be required there – gain those skills and go teach!

3) Start your own business overseas – the UK has an exhibition in November specifically for all those people who want to live abroad who are not yet in a position to retire and who would ultimately love to sack their boss. The Business Startup Overseas exhibition tells people how to find a niche, how to explore profitable avenues, how exactly to get all the paperwork in order and ultimately, how to start your own business abroad.

These are just three simple ways that you could begin to consider and explore further if you really do want to spend a lot of time living and travelling abroad. Other options include becoming a yacht master and crewing yachts for wealthy people and effectively sailing yourself around the world, working as crew on cruise ships or airlines or possibly taking a skill you have such as singing or playing a musical instrument and busking your way around the world!

Just think outside of the corporate world, 9 – 5 existence and think about the skills and talents you have, the skills and talents you could acquire and what opportunities there are or which opportunities you could create for yourself in a given location overseas.

If you truly want to live abroad or travel overseas, commit yourself to the dream and you will find a way of making it an affordable reality.

RV Slide Outs

Image : http://www.flickr.com

RV industry salespeople will tell you motor home; fifth wheel and travel trailer "slide outs" are the greatest invention in recent history for the RV industry. They may be right as slide outs provide a transformation on the inside of a RV.

I have four slides on my fifth wheel and I love them but anytime there are positive attributes negative ones also go along with it. I must admit the first multi-room slide out I saw which covered twenty to twenty-five fee on a large motor home sent a shiver up my spine. What a nightmare!

The nature of the systems themselves invites a host of electrical, mechanical and logistic challenges. I get many questions on slides, so here are some basics.

Slide out Mechanical Drive Systems - Electric or Hydraulic

Electric Motor Driven

  • Gear driven electric motor drives a gear system.

  • Used more on smaller and lighter slides.

  • Work adequately when not overloaded (from engineering standpoint and yes not all are engineered correctly.)

Weaknesses of Electric Slide Outs

  • Motor/gear box can go bad.

  • Can shear drive pen in main gear drive mechanism.

  • Motor can become overloaded ( excessive amp draw) from drag in the slide causing "broken" or "relay" to trip.

Hydraulic

  • Used primarily on larger and heavier slides.

  • Can use one motor/pump assembly to power more than one slide.

  • Mechanically more complex than their electrical counter parts.

Weaknesses of Hydraulic Systems

  • Possible failure of pump, valve or hydraulic line.

  • Hydraulic lines are particularly susceptible to wear, friction, heat etc. Can develop leaks or breaks in the lines themselves.

Design Challenges of RV Slide Outs

  • One would hope the drive systems themselves would be enough to be concerned about but no such luck. The physics alone of moving a thousand to two thousand pound room can be daunting

  • One thing to look for is the vertical stance of the slide as it moves in and out. All slides move over have the some type of roller assembly at the outer wall but the slide should maintain its stability (with little tipping in or out) as it moves in and out. Poor stability can damage the floor and can affect the slides ability to seal.

Slide Out Seals

Imagine you are sitting in your $400,000 motor home one afternoon, look up, and spot a bright ray of sunshine shooting across your motor home. You immediately search for the source of this ray of light and almost shallow your tongue. You jump up and make a b-line for the upper corner of the opposing slide, peer into the corner and are almost blinded by a bright ray of sun shooting in between the corner slide seals. It may sound funny but I assure you it was not to the owner as he described it to me. Sealing slide outs is a major challenge - especially in the extended position. Chances are good if you spray wash your motor home, fifth wheel or travel trailer with the slide out... you will, get water inside. Achieving a watertight seal around the entire slide may be one of the most challenging aspects in sealing today's slides.

On new and used RVs, prospective buyers should carefully inspect top and side seals. You need to understand how the seal is supposed to work, how it is working and the prospect of how long it will continue to work years of use. If you are left shaking, your head you probably, do not want to buy this RV.

In reality, the areas around your slide can be the most open area of your motor home, fifth wheel or travel trailer. Water, light, varmints, insects, etc can get if not properly sealed. Every RV owner who has slides should be aware of these issues, which I have just addressed.

5 Common Techniques For Getting Luxury Discount Travel

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The majority of people are not financially well off, but would like to be. Sometimes you can temporarily live like the “rich and famous” and enjoy the excitement of luxury travel.

So, as the saying goes, if you have champagne taste on a beer budget, let’s get going.
We’ll explore a few techniques on how you can enjoy luxury travel on a budget.

A laid out plan will be the most important aspect of obtaining luxury deals and accommodations without spending any more money than a lower rated resort. Travel in style with the following strategies.

Technique #1. Find Affinity And Loyalty Programs.

Capitalize on the flexibility and leverage you have in the competitive travel industry. Many companies want your business and offer lots of incentives to compete for your travel funds and to keep you as a customer.

For example, if you provide a service, you typically look out for your best customers and give extra perks to keep them coming back. These companies reward travelers who remain loyal to them with unadvertised specials and extras. This is the general idea behind frequent traveler programs and such.

Technique #2. Select The Right Travel Specialists To Work With.

As you’re researching destinations and comparing pricing online, note that all online travel companies aren’t equal. Lots of agencies have preferred status with suppliers who can in turn pass on these deals to you.

Again, this is just like we talked about earlier, only this time, the companies and suppliers are getting the great deals to pass on to you.

Technique #3. Turn Problems Into Opportunities.

Choose a few top-notch companies that you would like to use over and over again so that you can obtain loyalty bonuses and discounts. If they make an error, take advantage of the situation in a professional manner, but don’t take advantage of the situation.

These companies desire to maintain consistent levels of quality and rely on their customers to provide constructive feedback and satisfaction/dissatisfaction. If a representative is not willing to work with you, ask around to find someone who will.

Technique #4. Just Ask.

One of the easiest and simplest techniques you can do is to just ask. All they can say is no. Sometimes a special occasion may be enough to get you an unexpected surprise. Simply do it and don’t be afraid to ask.

You can simply ask for an upgraded vehicle, accommodation, or airline seat. It doesn’t hurt and you’re no worse off than you were before you asked. In other words, you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

Technique #5. Timing Is Everything.

Keep this in mind that travel is at it’s most expensive during holidays and other peak times of the year. However, if the time of year to travel is important to you, such as a special event you’ll be attending, traveling during major holidays or school vacations, and if you desire to get luxury travel for the best value you want, try to book as far in advance as possible.

Don’t forget the power of the internet. It can be one of your most effective tools in researching destinations, while getting luxury travel at bargain prices.

Have fun and happy travels!

Internet TravelBiz - Why You Should Start Now

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There is no better time than now to start your work-from-home internet travelbiz. More and more people are looking for ways to supplement their income, find a new career, or start a business.

If you fall into one of the above categories, the following information is definitely for you.

The cost of getting into the fast emerging internet travel business is a very small fraction of what it cost to open an off-line travel agency. In fact, in relationship to your risk, the start-up cost is so low that it is worth looking into owning a travel business.

There are internet travel companies that will get you started by providing you with your own travel website, access to a booking engine, back-office support, training, and more. Normally, there is a low one-time (set-up) fee and a monthly charge for website hosting, support and license requirements.

In addition to earning money by selling travel services, you can earn additional income by introducing people to the work-from-home travel business opportunity offered by the company.

The work-from-home travel business industry is in its' infancy. If you start early, you will benefit from (let's say) the "push" that occurs as increasing numbers of people enter the field. However, as more and more people enter the field it becomes increasingly difficult to earn larger travel commissions, as the "pie" get sliced thinner and thinner (let's call this the "pull").

You should fully understand this "push-pull" concept if you are to succeed in your work-from-home internet travelbiz.

You can use the link in the author's resourse box below for an explanation of how you can take advantage of this "push-pull" concept.

All the best,

Work Injury Laws and Traveling Employees

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are hurt while traveling for work, you may receive benefits under the state's workers' compensation law, which includes compensation for medical expenses as well as lost wages and other costs. Travel can mean driving from the office to a client site 15 minutes away or flying to another state for business. Your daily commute, however, is viewed as an activity outside of work. If you are injured on your way to or from work, you will likely not be entitled to workers' compensation benefits.

The criteria for receiving workers' compensation is based on whether your travel was for the benefit of your employer and therefore considered work related. If you are injured on the way to a client site or business meeting or while you are there, you should qualify for Illinois workers' compensation benefits. If you are injured while running errands for your boss, you may be entitled to workers' compensation benefits because the errands were for the benefit of your employer. Other examples of when you may qualify would be if you were transporting work materials in your car or if you can show that you were being paid for the travel time to and from work.

You may also be covered even if you aren't actually working when you get hurt. The criteria there is whether it's 'reasonably foreseeable' that you would be doing what you were doing at the time you were injured. For example, if you slip and fall while leaving your hotel to go out for dinner with a client while on a business trip, you should be covered. Of course, if you become intoxicated at dinner and are injured as a result, you will likely not be covered.

There are examples where injuries sustained during recreational activities on a business trip actually still qualify for benefits. One well known example is that of an employee in Hawaii on business who was hurt while riding a bike in a volcano during his free time. He was entitled to workers' compensation benefits because it was considered reasonably foreseeable that one would do some sight-seeing on off hours on a business trip in Hawaii.

What is considered a work-related activity or what is considered reasonably foreseeable is not always obvious. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you consult with an experienced workers' compensation attorney. An attorney who has experience in this field can ensure that you get the benefits to which you're entitled.

Everything You Need to Know about Work Permits

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Basically, a work permit is a document which authorizes a person to seek employment and hold down a job. This is not needed in every instance, especially for local employment, but if the employee is not a citizen of the country where he or she plans to work, then a work permit is required.

'Local and Foreign Work Permits'

Here are the two basic types of working permits needed by an employee before formally attending the first day at work:

1. Teen Employment Working Permits

In most states in the US, working students are allowed to take a day job or a part time job while studying without the need to obtain a working permit. Working students are a common scenario because of the high costs of education these days.

There are, however, exceptions to the rule. The states of Illinois, Indiana and New York would require a minor employee who has a part time job to obtain a work permit, and meet the condition that the student must maintain satisfactory grades in high school.

This will ensure that the student will still be able to devote time to studying rather than trying to earn money without finishing college.

2. Working Permits Abroad

Most non-US citizens who would like to earn a living in the United States need to obtain a US working permit. The same applies to US citizens who want to work outside of the country. They need to obtain a working permit for the country where they wish to travel and work at the same time.

As compared to local working permits, a working permit for out-of-the-country employment is much more difficult to obtain.

Whether you choose to work in Europe, Australia, Canada or a country in Asia, you need to take into consideration the visa and work permit requirements and restrictions for that particular country.

If you have decided that you want to work and eventually retire in the country of your choice, here are some tips that you can follow:

- Make sure that the country that you choose to work in interests you.

Choosing to work in a foreign country may prove to be a challenge and fun at the same time. You should be prepared to learn about the local people, their culture, learn the language and adapt to their style of living.

- Check with the country's embassy to gather more information about restrictions, health care and work permit requirements that you need to obtain if you want to work in a foreign country.

Make sure that all your paperwork is in order, including your passport, a visa, and the contracts that you need signed by the employer in the country of your choice.

Finally, before packing your bags and embarking on a work-abroad journey, make sure that you are fairly adaptable and you have the necessary work permits and other important documents to have a hassle-free instead of a worrisome time working in a country outside of the US.

Why Work - Life Balance Is Bad For You

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I was thinking about the term work/life balance and what it means to me, I came to the conclusion that it is not the ideal situation. I will tell you why below.

Definitions Work - A job you get paid for, your main source of income,

Life - Activities outside of work, free time

Balance - Equilibrium, two opposing forces canceling each other out.

Q Are the two forces of work and life really balanced?

Is the balance defined by time?

If so it does not balance at all. In a typical example;

Working day including travel 10hrs WORK

Sleep 8hrs

Which leaves 6hrs for LIFE

Q What is your balance?

Work hrs

Life hrs

Sleep hrs

Q Is the balance defined by activity?

If so still no balance, looking at the previous example which had 6hrs for Life, other work activities eat into this time such as household chores, childcare duties, sorting out finances etc, this reduces even further the time spent for life.

Q What are the 2 main forces in your life which try to create your equilibrium?

Work, life, leisure, sleep, rest, hobbies, family, relationships.

There are many types of balances but maybe not the kind you want

Q Would you be happy with any of the balances listed below?

Love - WORK Hate - WORK

Hate - LIFE Love - LIFE

I will now discuss a new term and an ideal to aspire to. This is not balanced at all and will change your life if you apply it.

Q If you were 300 feet up in the air walking a tightrope how important would balance be to you?

Q If you were walking in the park would you be more interested in balance or in enjoying the scenery?

Q If you enjoyed your WORK and enjoyed your LIFE what balance would you need?

When you have found and are doing the job that brings you fulfillment, you are living. The dream, your life becomes your work and your work becomes your life. You don't clock watch or get stressed, you look forward to Mondays as much as Fridays. Because you enjoy your work, you bring more positive energy to it which makes you even more successful and people love being around you.Your old WORK/ LIFE balance now becomes your LIFE'S/ WORK no balance.

To create lifes/ work no balance means going through a transition, where we try and identify what it is we want to do and take the necessary steps to put it into practice. This transition creates another in-balance a WORK/WORK imbalance.

1) Work - Doing your day job that is your main source of income.

2) Work - Activities outside of your 9-5 job to progress your new career.

Because the work activities have a larger goal, which will create a more fulfilling life, it doesn't seem like work to us and we find the energy and make the time to progress these changes, we feel good that we are taking these steps and are having more control over our lives. Sometimes we want to make the change but find it hard to do for reasons such as

  • Lack of confidence

  • Lack of direction

  • Need self-motivatin

  • Unsure about career

  • Limiting beliefs

  • Not sure about the process

  • Lack of support and guidance

  • No accountability

WORK/LIFE balance

Transition to

WORK/ WORK no balance

Creates your

LIFE'S/ WORK no balance

(You are now in your ideal flow, fulfilling your purpose happier than you have been before you love all of your life.)

Having a resource as a reference combined with someone who can help you achieve your aspirations, will speed up this process and make the journey more enjoyable. When we are going someplace new scary or exciting we feel better having someone tag along with us, these steps are a new adventure find someone to accompany you on the journey.

I am interested in helping people find imbalances. The main 2 forces are love and hate. I want a love love imbalance not love hate balance. Look for ways to bring more love and enjoyment into your work and life, and you will be making positive changes.

Q List 3 ways you can make your work more fulfilling?

Q List 3 ways you can make your life more enjoyable?

If you hate your work and or life ask yourself "am I on the wrong path", or do I need to change certain negative characteristics in order to be happy and realize I am moving in the right direction.

Get The Best Travel Deal

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Students, backpackers, family vacationers, business buddies, budget travelers, and individual traveler have something in common: they all want to get the best travel deal possible. And while everybody wants to get the best price out of every travel deal they made, more and more people are searching and digging dipper to get the price they can afford.

You too can get the best travel deal the next time you fly to another country. Here are some of the ways of achieving it:

Timing is best factor in achieving the travel deal you desire. If you want a cheaper flight, schedule it during off-peak season. For example, if you want to travel to Europe simply for vacation and not after celebrations and festivals, don’t target dates where you have to rub shoulders with other travelers. Remember that during peak seasons, demands are high. As a consequence, air travel tickets, hotel accommodations, restaurant reservations, are rentals, and everything in the middle goes nowhere but up. Traveling during this season means high travel cost.

Your destination also affects the type of travel deal you can get. If in case you want travel in any country in South America, you can notice upon your online research how prices differ from one country to another. The best trick you can do is to choose the cheapest country. Oftentimes, type of accommodation is relatively the same with other high-rated countries.

One of the biggest and heaviest one-time-pain in your pocket is paying for the plane tickets. So, you would want to get the cheapest seats possible. But choosing one does not necessarily mean you have to seat on the tail or at the most isolated part of the plane. You can always check for discount air travel seats both online or on airline companies. Usually, these discounted tickets are only waiting to be tapped. Or, if you really want to get good travel deal easily, fly with small airline companies offering extra low airfare.

Getting a cheap travel deal does not mean savings up to the extent that you have to skip meals or deprive yourself of good foods. Common misconception of first time travelers is that great foods could only be acquired on fancy restaurants. This is totally wrong. You can enjoy your day eating local delicacies at very affordable prices. In Spain, if you want to taste the tapa, you don’t need to go to your hotel restaurant, you always have the option to roam around the city and locate very affordable dining places where tapas are served at cheap price. In Paris, you don’t have to seat next to all the tourists on a café. You can stroll the park and look for vendors of burgers, hotdogs or sausage. You can sit and watch the Eiffel Tower with a glass of wise you buy from local grocery.

A good travel deal could also be acquired even before leaving. And the best way to look for it is online. You can search hundreds upon hundreds of different travel sites that offer good travel deals. Since it always boils down to competition, these sites offer competitive travel deals. Soon enough with an extra effort on researching, you can get travel deals that would not hurt your budget.

There are other ways to get the best travel deal. You can take family package, travel package, holiday package, or even special packages. The key is, work your way through these travel deals and decide which among these work for you best.

Travel Insurance - Sun, Sand and Sickness

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Travel insurance is probably one of the most confusing types of insurance around. Numerous clauses, sub-clauses and a myriad of little stipulations make for a very complicated policy, which nevertheless is very important for any holiday-maker.

People going on holiday tend to adopt an 'it won't happen to me' attitude and, hopefully, it won't. But nobody is immune to ill-health or robbery, and baggage loss can happen to the best of us. So, for sheer peace of mind, it's worth looking into travel insurance when booking your trip.

The medical aspect of a travel insurance policy is probably the most important and the most needed. Far more people fall ill abroad than you'd think, and the cost of OTC medication can be extortionate abroad as well as at home. Even contracting a simple stomach bug can cost you dearly. And if you need to be hospitalised in a foreign country, you could find yourself deeply out of pocket - most countries don't have an equivalent to the NHS.

It's important to remember that most travel insurance policies won't cover you for any problems related to pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or cancer, especially if you haven't mentioned these to your insurer when taking out the policy. Like any other type of insurance, omitting details on application can result in claims being refused, so make sure you tell them everything. This also goes for any dependents who are travelling with you; their medical history needs to be disclosed, but if the holiday is cut short because of a pre-existing condition it's unlikely you'll be reimbursed. Pregnancy, although technically a pre-existing condition, will normally be covered as long as you will be less than 28 weeks pregnant by the end of your trip (24 weeks for a multiple pregnancy). This restriction can vary between insurers, so always check your policy.

If you lose your possessions on holiday, your insurer will normally only pay out if you had taken reasonable care of them; if you had left them unattended you will be seen as negligent and claims will normally be refused. Likewise, if you leave any valuables unattended in your hotel room, vehicle or mobile home, and they are stolen, you may not be able to claim. If possible, keep your valuables in a room or hotel safe, or keep them on your person.

If your holiday has to be cancelled, there are some situations you will not be covered for. If you cancel simply because you decide not to go, for example because of a relationship break-up, you won't be refunded. If your holiday is cancelled by the hotel, or if you have an accident or unforeseen emergency at home, most insurers will refund the costs you have paid so far, plus any cancellation fees due. Again, check your policy first to see what is and isn't covered.

When you look for a travel insurance policy, don't just go on price alone. Annual travel insurance may work out cheaper, but if you only go away once a year for two weeks, you'd only really need cover for that time. Also, read all the small print, and ask questions, to make sure the policy covers exactly what you need.

The best way to find cheap travel insurance is to shop around online. While holiday insurance isn't mandatory, it's always wise to take out a policy. The one time you go on holiday without travel insurance could be the one time you need it.

Travel Loans For United States Armed Forces Personnel

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The United States Armed Forces are a projection of American power all over the globe. Two world wars where the tide in favor of the free world only turned because of American armed might, have helped carve for the men in uniform a special place in the hearts of the American people. The Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and the National Guard are the main constituents of the US armed Forces.

The United States forces operate on a global scale from Afghanistan to Germany and Korea. Thus American soldiers both men and women are posted at far flung locations. As a rule all official travel expenses of the soldier, seaman or airman is borne by the concerned arm. But in case a member of the soldiers family needs to travel for an emergency or otherwise the bill has to be footed by the soldier himself. This is the time a travel loan can come in handy and mitigate the personal immediate expense of the soldier. Serving and retired soldiers, military dependents and federal government employees are all eligible for these travel loans.

Obtaining a VA card is the first step that cannot be obviated. Do be clear that this is not a credit card or an insurance card. It is basically an identification card that shows that you are connected to the Arms or a POW or winner of a purple heart. You may apply for the card in person or on the net. When you apply for this card the information given by you is correlated and checked and after confirmation the card is mailed to you within 10 days at the most. Once you have the card you are entitled to a lot of benefits from dozens of companies who honor the spirit of the American soldier. This card is like an identification badge and you can rest assured that no sensitive information like your date of birth etc is on the card.

Once you have decided to avail a travel loan then it is in your own interest to carry out a survey on the net and then decide which travel loan suits you the most. Along with private offers the US government also lends a helping hand with its own travel offers.

There are many offers available. One of them is the bereavement loan. This loan can be availed in case of bereavement in a soldier's family. However please be clear that the loans can only be availed for the specific purpose they are taken i. e. travel. You can't use the money for something else. These loans are unsecured and may require a good credit rating.

Servicemen and service women must read the terms and conditions of the loan offer in detail before accepting the loan. This is in their interest. Also they must check the rate of interest that the loan carries, as it will have a direct bearing on your monthly installment. These loans are distinctly different from a pay day loan and cannot be carried or rolled forward.

In addition these travel loans are for short periods only. The amounts involved are also not very high. However the rate of interest is not low. Being unsecured loans the rate of interest charged will always be high. Hence it's essential that you carry out an evaluation before exercising your option. However the plus point is that these loans are available without any large paper work

Travel loans for Servicemen, both serving and retired can also be availed for a holiday or leisure trip. So next time as a serviceman you want to travel to the Bahamas then you have the option to avail a travel loan. There are a host of companies with attractive offers who will gladly oblige you. The Government of the United States encourages these travel loans. It is one of the privileges of wearing the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. Joining the United States armed forces is a good vocation after all.

10 Reasons Why People Travel

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When people decide to leave the comforts of their home and venture to other locations there is usually a reason behind it. Whether the cause to travel was a last minute whimsy or had an actual purpose, it makes one think about all of the reasons why people travel. Reflect on the last time you left your location and ventured to another one. Did it have a purpose behind it? Let's look and see if your motive to travel matched any of the one's listed below. These are not listed in any particular order.

1. Romance- There are thousands of people who are involved in long distance relationships. At some point though, they need to see each other. For the sake of love, people will travel for hours to spend as much time as they can with the love of their life.

2. Relaxation- All work and no play is not a good thing. People need to get away from the stress of everyday life, and a nice sunny location with a beach might just be what the doctor ordered.

3. Family/ Friends -Many people have family/friends that are located in different parts of the world. They need to visit with them even if it's for a short period of time.

4. Religion- There are places in the world that hold religious importance for many people. Religious travel is often related to a purpose such as seeing where the last pope was buried, or traveling to the town where Jesus was born.

5. Death- A relative, friend or acquaintance has passed away and travel is required to attend the funeral which is located out of town.

6. Honeymoon- You're getting married and are going somewhere special to celebrate. This usually occurs right after the wedding, but there are many occasions where people celebrate a honeymoon years later.

7. Education-You're getting your education somewhere other than where you live or you are going away on an educational school trip.

8. Celebration- Wedding, Anniversary, Birthday, Birth- There's always something to celebrate and it doesn't always happen where you live.

9. Medical/Health- Sometimes the treatment you need isn't available in the city/town where you live. Often the best medical care is costly and requires travel to receive it.

10. Work- Job requirements might mean a fair bit of travel is involved. Even if the travel is within your own country it still has a purpose attached to it.

Overall, traveling can be a wonderful experience or it can be draining, expensive and just plain torture. Nonetheless if you need to go then embrace it for what it is, and try to make the best of it even if it wasn't planned.

Astral Travel For Beginners - 3 Ultra Important Tips to Ensure Your First Astral Trip is Safe!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Are you planning your first induced astral travel experience? Are you worried about which tips, techniques, methods and strategies are safe? If you're NOT, you should be! There are tons of techniques out there recommended to beginners trying to project that I don't suggest, and think that some of them are downright dangerous, even if you have been practicing for a while!

With that in mind, I'd like to take a quick and insightful look at a few important tips to make sure you're next astral projection session is safe, productive and successful! (because once you have your FIRST amazing experience in the ethereal realms, nothing will ever look quite the same again!) Curious to know more? Great....continue readings as we take a closer look below!

Filed Under: Just Say NO! (and yes... you DO know what I'm referring to)

Dangerous drugs are a complete and utter "no-no" for astral projection, and yes, I DO know that many people recommend experimentation with foreign substances to achieve Out of body experiences. The truth is that many of the drugs being recommended are not only illegal, but even the ones that are legal are dangerous, and can possibly lead to complications that you simply can't predict. Plus, and this is equally as important to me, you simply CAN'T tell what was a hallucination, versus what was really "real", from the standpoint of your experience, if you've taken a foreign substance. I don't recommend it, and hope you'll stick to the NATURAL paranormal path for your first OBE.

Honestly? There is something pretty amazing about projecting with a partner. Lots of the seminal explorers in OBE phenomena practiced in "2's", and even Robert Monroe (founder of the Monroe Institute and one of the modern pioneers in the exploration of consciousness) regularly got some of his BEST information while projecting with friends. It also, of course, can add a great layer of reliability to the authenticity of the experience...i.e., if you've BOTH seen something while "out", it's less likely it was a product of your imagination!

Filed Under: Bring on the Beats

Binural beats and brain entrainment technology is a GREAT way to safely explore the ethereal realms, FAR faster than through simple meditative practice alone. In my personal journey, this has been an instrumental piece of the puzzle, and I rarely try to induce an OBE anymore without it. (plus it simply feels great to boot!)

The bottom line?

Astral travel is fundamentally safe, easy and tons of fun. But beginners can often face challenges that more experienced projectors do not... so by simply following simple tips like above, you're chances of having a safe, successful and SCINTILLATING experience goes up dramatically!

In the End?

Astral projection is truly the MOST fun, liberating and life changing experience you can imagine.

Just about ANYONE can do it...and with practice and training, so too can you! (and believe me when I tell you, life will NEVER look the same once you have)

10 Home Based Travel Agency Key Areas to Focus On To Achieve Maximum Success

Image : http://www.flickr.com

So you own or manage a home based travel agency business. Well done for committing yourself to a fantastic, exciting industry. Have you ever wondered why some travel agencies make some money and are very profitable over the long term, whilst others struggle to survive?

Have you ever wondered why your home based travel agency business (which may bring you a comfortable living) is not wildly successful?

Improving YOUR business dramatically comes from analyzing, measuring, identifying and then replacing certain under performing aspects of your marketing, selling, advertising, team or operations with alternatives that perform better.

As a business coach mainly working in the travel industry I have seen many small business successes and failures. The secrets to making your small business work relies on many things and not just your technical skill as a home based travel agency.

Unfortunately for most owners or leaders in travel businesses, there is a tendency to get stuck doing the technical travel consulting work and not spending enough time each week on the critical success areas that maximizes sales and therefore income.

So what are the critical success areas for a home based travel agency?

1. Leadership of Yourself and Team / Vision

2. Clear Goals and a Plan to Transform the Business every 90 days. Do you have clear, specific written goals for the next 5 years and 1 year in your business but also in your personal life? Do you have a plan of action behind each of your goals?

The biggest truism I have noticed in small business is failing to plan means planning to fail. I bet you have heard this a million times before but could I just ask this question: “Do you have a written down plan for your home based travel agency?”

3. Managing your team and/or yourself. This comes down to the critical area of time management. Are you good at managing your time?

4. Team: Train all of your team and yourself to improve sales skills

and product knowledge. If you are a one person home based travel agency then you still need essential people around you for example, lawyer, accountant, book-keeper, business coach etc. You cannot be totally successful in small business going it alone without anyone else’s help or input.

5. Sales: skills in consulting, closing the sale, product knowledge and customer service.

6. Marketing - Generating New Enquiries. Do you have a plan of attack for this?

7. Marketing - Increasing Average Spend of each Customer

8. Marketing - Repeat Business from Existing Clients.

9. Operations and Systems / Policies and Procedures

10. Finance, Cash flow and Accounts Systems.

These ten areas can enormously impact on your bottom line sales and profitability. These areas can lead to phenomenal growth if used effectively.

CRITICAL POINT: To get massive improvement in your travel business all you need to do is work on and within these 10 areas constantly for 2 hours a week minimum (hopefully more), every week.

Imagine the difference it will make to your home based travel agency if you could focus on all of the critical areas over any three month period? One of the keys is to get someone to help you do this, namely a business coach or mentor.

A business coach enables follow through on agreed actions to occur which gives you as the business owner a better chance to succeed over the short and long term.

Another brilliant way to ensure you focus on the ten critical success areas is to buddy up with another one or more home based travel agency, you will move a lot quicker and be far more effective.

Alternatively the owner and manager can proactively work on these areas but including your team always gets better results.
A strong leader needs to ensure this happens effectively. But there are key skills needed to lead your business.

The Really Exciting part! The tiniest improvements over all of these areas can lead to big differences in sales and eventually your bank balance. Can you imagine the impact these strategies potentially could have on your home based travel agency if you put some of the key areas together? Pure genius! Now it is over to you to take action for the long term maximum success of your home based travel agency.
