I would like to work in the travel industry what do i do?

I want to work in the travel industry. i havent taken any courses in travel and tourism. What are some industries i can work and grow into? I have tried all the travel agencies websites on becoming a travel agent its junk and not worth it (there's isnt any money in that).( since majority of travel is booked through yahoo, travelocity, hotwire or another known form of agency).

I do have expereince in being being away from home for a long peried of time. (I'm not looking to go in the military)

I'm a very optomistic guy who enjoys being away from home. My residency is in Michigan. Any ideas anyone?

Thank YOU

Nick 21 MI

You could get a job on a cruise ship - you'd travel, meet new people and be paid for it. You could work as a flight attendant for an international carrier. You could work as a tour guide or coordinator. I'm sure that there are many more but these are the ones I can think of right now.

You need to know alot about countries for starter, and have the Character to attract the clients and get interisted in what you can offer.

you have to be patient and pleasent and tolerete different minds and Personalities as people are picky especially the old ones.

you have to have maps and airline schedules and good organization skills.

How can I travel abroad doing volunteer work?

I want to travel all over and volunteer to help those in need. Im thinking like Africa and South America. My church does not do mission trips.

There are many organizations that set up trips for volunteers. Or you could contact other churches and go with them, it doesn't have to be with your own church. My nephew and his daughter got called on short notice by a friend from another state who had two slots to fill for a mission trip his church was doing, so they went along.

Ones I can think of off hand:

Doctors without Borders

Lions Clubs International (give donated eyeglasses to people in other countries)

How does space travel work in the mass effect universe?

Can someone link me to a wiki related to mass effect that has the page related to space travel?

How does water travel up to our pipes if we live in a very high Apartment/work in an Office?

In Melbourne, Australia we have the Eureka Tower and Realto tower. How do water travel up to the highest floor?

They use hydraulic pump in water network to pump water from ground to the tank on the top of the building . Normally the pump works at night because at night, water pressure is higher .

They use water pumps.

Is it possible to get a job or work in singapore while on travel/visit visa?

If I go to Singapore on visit or travel visa, is it possible to get a job?or can i work there while on travel/visit visa?

Work with out any Work-Pass ( work permit/S-pass/EP) case Find up to $ 5000.00 or jail. also send back immediately after find/jail. but you are allow to search for jobs even interview.if you enter by social visit visa/pass .if you can get jobs, you employee will apply Permit for you , before permit approved, is no allow to start work. Time is very bad, even local citizen not easy to get jobs , at this moment people will not take RISK to hire those 30 days visa holder, is vere easy to get local people to work now. you have to " drop " this ideal.. Welcome to Singapore ! ( but not to work with out permit )

Travel/visit visa is for your enjoyment of stay as a tourist to spend money & collect the memories & facilities for future consideration to come again.

Must obtain work permit to work for short or long term. As volunteer for free services during your stay is welcomed by Charitable Organisations for your gaining of experiences in S'pore.

The answer is no. You got to check with the Ministry of Manpower(MOM) about working in Singapore as a foreigner. If you are on a study pass eg: studying in sec/poly/etc, you are allowed to work in Singapore. For deeper details you have to call MOM directly.

hope this will help you.

The name of the visa is VISIT. So what do you think you can do with it? Go check a dictionary if you are sill not convinced.

Well, you can look for a job, attend interviews, but once you get the job offer, you must apply for and get a Work Permit before you can begin the job.

Absolutely not!

On Visit visa you cannot work in any country.

Hi, I don't think so, your visa do not permit you to get a job, its not a working visa.

if u are as pretty as your pic... then.. U ARE HIRED!

Do you travel frequently for leisure and still have a busy work life?

Where do you get smart, affordable deals and how do you balance your travelling with your busy work life?

Actually, I plan hard before I go to any vacation. I post request to tour operators so I get itineraries that will fit my desire plan trip. Then I finish and set everything that I have at work so I will not think about it when i'm somewhere.

I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.

You just have to look around. Kayak and Travelzoo are good options as you can compare different websites. But you have to do a little research. If you are going to Europe and Asia there are books as well that you can get at the library. As for balancing time with work, try to take short vacations, like camping on long weekends, or family reunions. It has worked for me. Good Luck

How do I travel and work?

I'm a 24 year-old canadian citizen wanting to travel around europe and work at the same time.

Are there programs that allow for this, since I have only a high school education, six years of teaching martial arts, and about the same in unofficial (life) coaching as my credentials?

all i could think of is to try and find work in a cruise ship that travels within europe.

How does the whole travel nursing thing work?

I would really like for someone who is or was a travel nurse to tell me their experiences with travel nursing and if they enjoyed it. Also, what are the salaries and benefits?

Basically, you work for a company that contracts to hospitals that have staffing issues. You are then told where to go and when to be there. The pay is great. It's usually about $60-70/hour. However, you should remember...there is usually a REASON that the hospitals have staffing issues!

Does anyone know if you work at Brewers Fayre do they pay for any travel costs to get into work?

I am curious to know if they cover any travel expenses for getting into work as my partner reckons they do.

No they don't.

Which is a cheaper way to travel to work?

Is it cheaper to travel to work by a taxi or by driving myself. My job is a 30 to 40 mile drive.I'm not going to be working everyday of the week on about 4 to 5 days.

Take local transit - ie bus or commuter train

Are there any companies that will let a 17 year old travel overseas and work with animals? ?

I am 17 and from Ontario Canada, i wish to be a zoologist when i grow up. I would like to travel to another country to work with animals for 2-4 weeks. All the companies i have found you must be 18 or older. I wish to do this in the summer of 2009.

Maybe try the Roo Gully Wildlife Sanctuary in Western Australia.

Can I travel to Europe (I'm Aussie) without a visa or work permit?

I am an 18m Australian, been trying to find this out for ages and can't get a straight answer.

I wanna know if I want to work at Canada, What should I do? Can I use Travel Visa to get into Canada?

Can I use Travel Visa to get into Canada, after that I only apply the Working Permit at the Canada once I get the job at Canada. This can be work or not? If no, any other way can provide to me as a reference? What should I do to apply the working apply too? Thank you so much.

To work in Canada, you must have a working visa in order not to be deported.

Can I travel out of Uk with my work permit visa and come back?

I hope I will not be refused entry back when I travel out of uk with my work permit?

Yes. You can travel out of UK and come back. However with certain types of visa's there is a condition that stipulates that you cannot be out of the country for more than a particular period of time. So don't stay out of country for months at stretch. If you are going only for visiting another country, you shouldn't have any problem.

WHY DONT YOU JUST TRAVEL OUT AND FORGET TO COME BACK???????????????????????????????

How would a person get into being able to travel and work from any computer creating and maintaing websites?

Im looking at going to school for networking not for sure but something in the computer industery, and being able to travel and work from any computer, would it be just a matter of finding the right company which would allow you to do so?

Sorry i dont know

Typically sales and sometimes technicians are the ones that travel around. IT is smart, we just remote into boxes and never have to leave the office. Web sites are pretty much the same, you just remote into the server and upload files as needed, you don't have to physically go to a server; it's actually a security risk to allow people physical access to systems unless required.

You don't look for a career based on how you can work, you look for one based on what you have to do. I don't think you can find a job that's going to send you around the world working from different computers. (Since you can run a computer half-way around the world without getting out of bed, traveling to use computers is not really needed.)

How does Newton's 3 laws of motion work in space travel?

i need to write a paper on newton's laws of motion, and anser this question thoroughly: how does Newton's laws work in space travel?

im supposed to consider spacecrafts along with astronauts.

i need enough information on how it works with space travel to write a 1.5 page report(double spaced)

please any and all answers with information will be greatly appreciated.

the third law most of all is used for everything in space. that's how astronauts get about in eva's(extra vehicular activity). they use small gas tanks. gas coming out pushes the object. that is the third law. also same thing on the craft, they have a whole bunch of nozzels around it to navigate in space.

the "object in motion stays in motion" is used in the actual travelling part. unlike on earth when you are driving you don't need to constantly apply energy(gas). you just give one blast and it goes on at that constant speed for ever. this is inertia once it gets going it doesn't stop until you give a blast from the opposite side of travel.

f=ma is used to calculated how much energy you have to precisely give to travel at x amount of speed. using this they get up to the exact speed that they want in order to stay in orbit, leave orbit, or come back down. very important!!!!

also the third law kind of becomes a problem when you're working in space cause you have to pay attention to everything you do. the srew drivers has to be specially made so that it doesnt spin the astronaut when they use it. or when they do space walks they have to careful how much force you push somthing with cause you might get pushed back away from the station.

hope this helps

jani

conclusion statement: the effects of the three laws can be both very usefull and harmful. they make space travel far more efficient than any other means of travelling. but if you're not carefull it just might push you away into deep space.

yep. think about the second law, e.g if a moon collides with another moon the severity of the impact determines the moons destiniess

As far as I know , it is used to launch rockets into space...

Is there any websites which sort out how to travel the world and work there too?

Me and my friend wanting to travel around the world but work to is there any website what sort this out for you?

Yes. A few years ago I found a wealth of info. Let's see. I think there is a book called Work Your Way Around the World. Also google teach english overseas. Japan pays most, but quality of life might not be too awesome. Same goes for Souel, Korea. Costa Rica would be bad *** but you won't be able to save any money at all. Prague would be pretty awesome. Loads of books on it. Check library search for teach english abroad. Good luck. Other jobs too, but this one is a good bet.

take a look at the Lonely Planet website and also have a look at the books available for this type of travel - there are loads to chose from.

Can people in the travel industry work overseas?

I was talking with my friend who's in the travel and tourism industry and she didnt know if when she finishes her program and gets the diploma in Canada would she be allowed to work in another country as a travel agent?? What requirements would she need?

She would but she needs to get a work visa from that country. Depending on the country it may take a while to get. She should know this if her program is a good one. We learned about this in the first few weeks of class. Many people go to travel agents for help on moving overseas.

How can I become a work from home Travel Agent?

How can I become a work from home Travel Agent?

Well.. I found a great home job in the job's section of this page: www.chicmomy.com

Good luck!

The majority of work at home positions are made available by your employer after a period of office work.

You need to find a opening with an employer. Most of the times they charge you to do a background check. You will be given training and equipment by the employer. Remember not to pay any fee for being recruited.

I have been thinking about doing this myself, and found a way that might be of some use to you. Go to the following link, and watch the "Overview" www.fhtmus.com/msouthards

Should you decide to join, you can get your very own personal travel website partnered with Travelocity where you can book travel for yourself or clients, and earn up to 60% in commissions. At the bottom of the site listed above, click on "Travel FHTM", and you can see what your website would look like.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at fhtmrep09@yahoo.com

How does a flux capacitor make time travel work exactly?

Doc Brown says that the Flux Capacitor is what makes time travel work, how?

Good question...some people just have no sense of humor.

I'll say that the flux capacitor is able to generate a localized magnetic field around the vehicle which is large enough to both separate and warp the fabric of space-time. Thus, an object can move within the time continuum without changing physical location. Picture an ant crawling along a piece of paper. If you bend the paper such that the ends are very close together, the ant is able to step across the small gap and arrive at the other side of the paper nearly instantaneosly. When the paper is returned to it's normal shape, it appears to a fellow ladybug on the far side of the paper as though the ant has appeared out of nowhere.

In the same way, warping the time continuum without distorting physical space allows the Dolorian to cross to another point in the time continuum, but remain at the same physical location. Clearly, 88 miles per hour is crucial because of the length of time that the distortion can be maintained.

It's either this, or Doc Brown was all hopped up on happy pills when he came up with the idea.

WTF? And you got someone to answer that seriously? Hey I've got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn!

I can't help myself...it drastically increases the "weight" of a photon. Oh, you mean its rest mass? Uhh, dude, you're aware a photon has no rest mass, right? Doh! Oh, and how would changing the rest mass of a particle change c? It wouldn't. You can change the rest mass of just about any hadron (by accelerating it to a higher KE) and it has no effect on c. Learn some actual physics dude.

flux is a term for magnetic field the flux capacitor is just a made up name and it doesnt work

It drastically increases the weight of a photon, thereby making light travel slower. If you decrease the speed of light to lower than 88 miles per hour then you can jump into the future by traveling faster than 88 miles per hour.

Does anyone know if there is an Irish equivalent of the J1 work and travel visa?

I'm looking for a visa that, like the American J1 visa would allow a student to go to Ireland for the summer to work and travel. I have done a number of web searches but am not getting the information that I need.

Are you sure you really want to come here. The weather's crap all year round & it's really expensive too. Besides there are not many jobs going at the moment.

Have you considered Iceland?

What types of "chotchkeys" do travel agents receive from destinations and do they work?

I'm curious why types of items travel agents receive from destinations, hotels or resorts and if they work? What gets kept and what gets thrown in the trash?

thanks!!

In my experience, what suppliers hand out is the usual sort of thing you'd get from any company: post-it note pad, pens, mousepads, mugs, key rings, calendars, etc, etc -- all with the supplier's logo.

I find myself using some of these (post-its, pens) and throwing some out (key rings, calendars).

Now sometimes, when a travel agent attends a supplier promotional or training session, there will be drawing for door prizes and some of those can be quite nice -- like trips for instance.

How Can I Work in the Travel and Tourism Industry?

I am a stay-at-home mom who loves to travel. Nothing exotic, just road trips mostly around the eastern U.S. I also love advising people on travel and helping them to find attractions, lodging, etc. which I do mostly by way of online travel message boards. I would love to be a travel agent but don't have the time or money to go to school for it. I don't live in an area with a lot of tourist attractions, so there aren't many opportunities to work in the travel/tourism industry around here. Can anyone suggest something I can do to earn some money helping people with travel plans, etc. without going to school at this time?

Your situation is perfect and comparable to mine when I joined this service and became an agent 5 years ago.Go to www.IDL-Travel.com follow the links and you'll get training,ID card, discounts on travel, hotels, car rentals etc. This month,6 days left, they will even give you a free trip !!

Do you know of a way to travel and get 60% back doing so? Well there is a legit business that allows you to do so. You can apply for YTB International. Go to www.ytb.com/dicetravel and click on presentation. After the presentation there is an online application available you can fill out.

Computer career not to intensive that will allow me to travel and work ANY?

i currently work construction and i have for quit a few years being 24 iam looking at going to a tech school of some sort for computer tech., Is there any specific programs i can get into that would allow me to travel and work?

IT Consulting. You'll fly more than you'll want to.

I have my A&P license (airframe & powerplant) and want to travel to other countries to work.?

I have my A&P license (airframe & powerplant) and want to travel to other countries to work. I do not want to work in the Middle East because I don't want to go somewhere hotter than where I live. I currently live in Arizona and would like to travel somewhere else. Are there any companies in Europe that allow American citizens to work as aircraft mechanics? I do not want to become a permanent citizen of another country just want to work there.

James, since you gave me ten points the last time try checking the websites of Atlas Air & Polar Air, cause these aircrafts are being serviced (A & B, C&D) checks in parts of Europe sometimes Ireland but mostly Brussels. I will try to ask my fellow workers in Dubai at Atlas for the agency which handles this and recruits FAA A&P to handle this checks.

Meanwhile after this I will email you some of my resources while I'm on medical leave (recuperating) i think is the word.

Most foreign countries do not recognize the FAA A&P license. They have their own governing body which oversees the licensing of mechanics. (Mechanics in Europe are referred to as engineers.) JAA lincesing is type specific.

Your best bet is to work as a flight mechanic for a cargo hauler, Gemini, Atlas or Polar Air Cargo. From there, other contacts can be made. Let me know if you find anything interesting!

Most countries are going to require that you obtain their own version of A & P certificats if you are going to work for a company that is based in said country. But if you are asking that hey I want to work for someone like Northwest Airlines or Erickson Air Crane and yet be stations somewhere else than in the US chances are that you should be able to get a work permit but that will only let you work on the aircraft your company owns and only for a limited amount of time.

My fellow friendly traveling mechanic.

If you work as an A&P on "N" registered aircraft there will be no need to attain some others country A&P equivalent. Try the big US airlines, then big maintenance facilities abroad whom might work US planes.

Cheers

oh i have no thoughts on that and besides who cares do whatever you wish to do... don't bother us with your romantic plans and desires.

What is the furthest you would travel to work?

What is the furthest you would travel to work?

I do a 120 miles a day by car.

about 10 miles no more because gas prices are like grrr

2 hours, By bus, if its 2 hours by train, thats toooo far

30 mins

Have commuted 90 minutes. It's about far enough to want to move closer. Yet is close enough that you can commute until you do find somewhere closer to live.

at one time i had to travel from walsall to llandudno every day but these days i stay over if its a long way. travelling is too much stress.

Hi,my husband has to travel from Durham Tees Valley Airport

to Libya it takes half an hour to get to the Airport.

2seconds away I'm agoraphobic

I'm at it right now , 8.5 miles , I used to work exactly 1 mile from my house before my company moved out in the boondocks :))

15-20 minutes by car. I hate driving in rush hour.

the department for work and pensions recomendation is travelt o work area ....one and a half hours...each way. So that is what you legally have to if you want to claim benifits. |But if I really loved my job I would go to the end of the earth. Assuming the money was right. That also has a loot to do with it. You do the figures.!!!!

I travel 35 miles. And it's killing me.

15 minutes

30miles

30 min

Only from my house. Not much point travelling any further really.

I am not on excellent pay, so 5 miles.

anywhere providing they paid for the traveling, and understood when i was late/

10 ft.

About 30 minutes (by car)

The money was way over 6 figures, one and a half hours each way. Total 147 miles a day. Did I like it no, did I do it?

Yes I did it for the money and I would do it again. Only if it paid well.

the maximum possible is 1 hour 30 mins..... but then i'd buy a house there if possible!

15-30 mins.

I'm an Indian from Bangalore looking for a way to work and travel across the world?

Hi... It's all been said.... I think life is all about experiences and I want to see as much of this world as possible in the duration that I have been given. I want to travel all across the world, to different cities and countries and I want to work as I do it. So how do I go about chasing my dream?

Who is stopping you?

If you have no reponsibilities and have money and time just go ahead!

This answer is of no help at all. Obviously if I had no responsibilities and plenty of money I'd be travelling the world... But I dont and thats why I asked the stupid question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20090720015017AADx6Yz&kid=BZpVOkO6K2zB31W29u9L&s=comm&date=2009-07-26+04%3A18%3A42&.crumb=

you can make your dream all come true by simply finding a job related to tourism and travel..or you can work as staff or steward in a cruise ships. through this you will have the opportunity to see the world for free and at the same time earning. its one of my dream and wish too..luckily, fulfilled all of those starting as a waiter in a cruise ship on the Mediterranean, then i transferred to the america and canada, back to asia and finally all of europe.

I have been wondering the same thing for 50 years.

It must be well hard to find someone, somewhere else still.

But if you just want to work, and if your referees are good, then it'll be easy to find a place to work at.

How can I travel and work for the military?

Well I always wanted to be in the Army and I made it to fort jackson reception and was sent back home because I had a medical condition call keratcouns. I never got ship off to basic, but got ship back home. I can never be in the Army. I just would like to know I can I still work and travel for them but as a civilian. I don't have that much experience and I don't have a college degree. Can anyone help me the best answer gets 10 points

The best suggestion I can give is to apply to work as a military contractor or work for AAFES. Those will get you close to the military and you can even deploy with them in some cases as long as your medical condition doesn't prevent it.

The Department of Defense hires many civilians in many different occupations. It is a little easier to get one of the jobs if you are a veteran, but it is not required. They hire a lot of non-veteran civilians.

What you do is go to http://www.usajobs.gov and look up different jobs for Department of the Army or any other branch. They are listed by locations and by type of work.

You have to navigate the site a little, but it is easy to do. It is a federal website and you can send your resume in and apply for any federal service job listed that you qualify for.

I think it is a great idea that you want to serve your country. Even if you can't be in the military there are other ways to serve.

How does Travel Insurance work with Lost/stolen luggage?must you have receipts for everything in bag?

Ok Im considering buying travel insurance, but Im just wondering how does it work with Lost/stolen baggage...for example..Youre in a taxi and the taxi takes off with your baggage..In order to get reimbursed for what you lost must you have receipts of everything in that bag?can you get up to a certain amount without receipts?

and once you make a claim how long does it take for you to get reimbursed?does it happen while youre still on vacation?

Thanks

Usually these types of policies reimburse on non specific items based on a capped rate. You have to read the policy carefully to determine coverage. (you ask a good question though)

I usually use TravelEx. They have been great to me in the past when I have needed to file a claim. Here is a link for a free quote.

Can my employer make me work away from base location, but not pay my additional travel expenses?

My company is based in London, but my company want me to travel out of London to work with clients. This costs me more in travel expenses, but they will not pay me expense of additional travel.

Is this legitamate?

Yes, absolutely. Most companies would reimburse travel expenses away from your usual base, but there is no legal requirement for them to do so. Check your contract and employee handbook to see if says that they will reimburse, as if it does then they will have to honour that, but if it isn't mentioned then unfortunately they can expect you to travel without repayment.

It depends on how the contracts are set up. Most companies will reimburse certain travel expenses during work hours to and from clients. It also depends on the field that you are in. If you are not traveling far from London, they may say that your additional travel expenses are too small to reimburse.

It depends on your contract, have a read through and check. Chances are its in there somewhere (in small print obviously). But, if its not then you can claim expenses.

What steps would I need to take to travel and work in New Zealand for a year?

I am interested in taking a year off from school and going to New Zealand (or maybe someplace else, but we can use it as a starting point) to work or travel for a year or so. I'm guessing I would need a visa of some sort, but is there anything else I would need to obtain or be aware of before starting on this journey? By the way, I am a citizen of the United States.

If you are planning to work you will need a working holiday visa. American's are eligible for a WHV from NZ.

This will require that you have a certain amount of money (usually approx $2000).

Be aware though, you can only get a working holiday visa once and it could be better getting it after you finish university so your potential income level is higher (earning more in NZ i mean).

You could also try wwoofing - willing workers on organic farms. Not sure if you need a working holiday visa for this (you never used to but this may have changed).

you should do animal husbandry.. and try to specialise in sheep... and take a pair of flash rain boots to the visa office...

What are some great travel magazines i could apply to work for as a photographer?

Im a 24 year old photographer and want to work for a travel magazine. I live in London at the moment but have nothing holding me here. I want to travel and experiance different countries doing something I love. ANy help here would be great.

Check out this website, which lists 20 popular travel magazines. I subscribe to Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler, which are both great. http://www.world-newspapers.com/travel.html

There are also groups out there that you can join to make contacts and build a network. http://www.travelphotographers.net/

Good luck!

I am planning to go and tour Australia for 12 months next year on a tourist/visit visa. I want to travel around and working also. I am a qualified Electrician, would I find enough work? am i permitted to work under tourist/visit visa or what is the method? Also what is the average cost of living?

Of course you can work..

The question you should be asking is, if you can do it legally..

I'm sorry, that I can't help you with...

As far as the dollar... The Australian dollar to my knowledge is a tad bit lower than ours.

With that, I think you can gather that the majority of things are simular...but in all, most likely very different..

Just don't forget over there, you're driving on the wrong side of the road.

-- Rob :)~

.. Well, I did further my research after I wrote this.. And yes-- you can work. But you have to visit the local workforce commitee public services building.. (wherever the hell that is). http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20060722060645AAYTNHx&kid=Tcd4Djq7V2Mi0jYSK7suhXeQoIbKwAbDK9oMUzNrjG9XvMrsqGtX&s=comm&date=2006-07-23+07%3A33%3A45&.crumb=

According to a couple articles I read ( I wish I saved the URL's) on the average, it can take up to 14 business days for your application to process through. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20060722060645AAYTNHx&kid=Tcd4Djq7V2Mi0jYSK7suhXeQoIbKwAbDK9oMUzNrjG9XvMrsqGtX&s=comm&date=2006-07-23+07%3A34%3A14&.crumb=

With that being said, yes, you are entitled to work legally.. But, as far as you owning your own business, it will most likely take longer for the simple fact that there is a latter form once completing the former. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20060722060645AAYTNHx&kid=Tcd4Djq7V2Mi0jYSK7suhXeQoIbKwAbDK9oMUzNrjG9XvMrsqGtX&s=comm&date=2006-07-23+07%3A35%3A04&.crumb=

Which is a commercial application. Depending on that to process through should take less time-- of course depending on season. Since it's winter there now, less "new" business' tend to process through. Where as in the summer, the increase in temporary commercial companies are on a rise. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20060722060645AAYTNHx&kid=Tcd4Djq7V2Mi0jYSK7suhXeQoIbKwAbDK9oMUzNrjG9XvMrsqGtX&s=comm&date=2006-07-23+07%3A35%3A50&.crumb=

Good luck to you.. I hope this helped. Btw, thank you for the best answer. Sorry.. it wouldn't let me type more than 300 characters/ per deal...

only if you are under30 you can get one 12mounth working permit but only one after that you can only come on tourest visa,if your over 30 you can get work in areas that are short of trades people but thats a 4year visa, this is a knew thing happening right now but you have to find an employer to sponcer you,if you cant do that and are over 30 then you can only come as a tourest hope this helps i am an Australian.

Lucky you, it's my dream to go over there. It's hard to get a visa to work in Australia. I have a degree, no criminal record, speaks 2 languages, and for some reason, I wouldn't be able to get a visa to legally work over there. But I've seen on an internet site that it's very easy to find an "undeclared" job in Australia.

As for the cost of living, it isn't so bad. 1$ US is about 1,30$ Australian. If you want to live an "average" life, you'll be fine.

Visit liveinaustralia.com to see if you qualify for a visa

Probably not since all tourist visa are just that. Try that in the US and you will get deported and won't be allowed to return. You might want to check the agreement between Australia and whatever your country of citizenship is. Keep in mind when you break the terms you agreed to when you got your visa you are considered out of status and possibly in the country illegally.

I would think you'd need to find an employer to sponsor you. Either you go on the Visitors/Tour Visa and VISIT/TOUR, or you get a WORK Visa and WORK in Aussie :) Trying to do it round about is not going to help you LOOK good to the Country you are applying for, if you do not set about doing it honestly and correctly. My opinion.

it depends entirely on the class of your visa .. it will state whether you can work or not.

if you are caught working illegally you will be detained at your expense for a few weeks and deported.

you will be refused entry to Australia for some years, and you must pay for your detention and deportation before making any future application.

you can forget about migrating here if you are caught working illegally.

Help, how to find a job offer for a student on work and travel program?

My niece is urgently seeking a job in the USA after Work and Travel Program for students. She's applied for J1 visa. Preferable occupations are houskeeping, waitress, counter, hotels, cafes, anything excl hospitals and babysitting. Seasonal work summer 2007. Who can help? Valuable links? Contacts?

Maybe, Yes. Jennifer

Can i work for a travel agency which is in America staying online in India?

I want to stay at home in India and work for a travel agency in India, is there any agency which can provide me this work?

probably. you people pretty much ruined all the American jobs anyhow. Just walk down your street, I'm sure there's an American travel agency in Dehli or somewhere.

Easy, all you have to do is walk down the street, because that's where all these American Travel Companies went, and while you're at it, ask those greedy people for a big raise.

If your work involves extensive travel do you advice home schooling?

I dont have kids but i''ve thought about this alot and i'd like to ask it.

If i have to travel extensively around the world due to work and i have an excellent grounding in the education system up to pre-college level (and beyond in some) then would you advice Home Schooling?

I'd give it a try, if you have the time and determination. Homeschooling takes about 15 hours a week, though your own planning and prep time will take much longer, and of course younger kids take far more supervision. It can be done anywhere in the world. It means your kids can go with you no matter where you end up moving. It means there are no "gaps" in their education due to moving mid-year, or moving to a place where they don't know the language. It means they'll generally have a better education than most American public school students get, for about 10% of what most schools spend per student.

If you have a good curriculum, you can do it anywhere, in any setting. I homeschooled a relative for grades 10-12, when the relative lived 2200 miles away from me, no problem.

And remember, if you're all that worried, start with preschool or kindergarten. Both are optional, not required. Give yourself a full school year to try it out. If it really doesn't work out, you can get the kid caught up during summer (use professional tutoring if needed) and into first grade without having to make him a year behind where he would have been.

Home schooling is good, but not if there aren't any adults there to teach them. It kind of defeats the purpose of home schooling.

Many satates are now requiring lesson plans by homeschoolers to be submitted to them. Also, some states are also requiring that the "teacher" of a home schooler have no less than a college degree.

As for traveling, a home schooled child must take all standardized tests that public school children take for the same grade/age level at the same time as those public students. If you are out of town and a suitable proctor is not available....? Just things to contemplate.

Yes, but only if you take the kids with you. Life Experience is the best education. What an opportunity you would provide your children---seeing the world. Go for it!

Home schooling implies that you are at home to teach.. If you're off traveling, you can't be teaching. (Unless you bring the kids with you.)

I wouldn't advise anyone to home school who doesn't know the difference between advise and advice. or accept and except.

Home schooled all four of my own children, plus have taken in five other teenage boys who were having trouble in school.

One of the issues we hit with travel is that not all states, or countries, allow home schooling. For instance, we had to fight with the authorites when we were in Luxemberg for a year. The younger kids were OK, but my one daughter, who was a senior, was not permitted to be home schooled. She had to leave the country for three months (stayed with her grandmother) until she turned 18 and then could return to Europe and complete her schooling. Once she was over 18, the law did not apply.

If you feel you would have adequate time to school your child. Would the child be able to travel with you?

not with your spelling anyway

Boardin school maybe , as humans we need others 2 inter act !

no . schooling is better

no i never encourage that.schooling is best

34 weeks and I travel 2 hours for work everyday?

I plan to work until the end of September, my due date is Oct. 13th. I really need the money but I'm starting to wonder about how safe it is since I ride alone and I travel from town to town where the majority of the roads are dirt. Any advice, I feel great but there's always that chance right?

go with your gut. if you don't feel safe, why risk it? there are so many sad stories of pregnant women getting hurt so close to their due date. it really is heartbreaking. but also, what if you go into labor out there? i'm sure many people go into labor and drive themselves to the hospital, but again, why risk it? you can go on maternity leave, and the SSI or one of those branches will pay for it. it may not be as much, but it would help out. good luck and congrats on the babe.

ok just keep a cell phone with you at all times and make sure you have time on it.

you'll be fine and good luck to you

I think you should probably talk to your doctor if you have any concerns and good luck to you. I'm 19 weeks and I'm ready to stop working because I'm sooo tired!!

I would make sure you have some type of defense with you...either a baseball bat or mace. And as always a charged cell-phone, granted they work on those back roads. Make sure you have someone who knows where you travel (someone trustworthy). It isn't that much longer, i'm sure things will be fine; try not to stress to much!!!

Congrats on your little one!

hormones make you worry about everything! Make sure your cell phone is on you and charged at all times and you are wearing your seatbelt correctly! You should be okay dont stress it!!!

I would ask your boss if they can make accomodations for you to do a closer route or something in the office. My water broke unexpectedly at 32 weeks 3 days shortly after returning from a trip out of town. My contractions started almost immediately. I don't want to alarm you but you should be cautious just in case. If nothing else, make sure you always have a cell phone on you and know the nearest available hospitals and clinics. Good luck!

I am married and travel a great deal for work, is cyber sex or phone sex wrong?

I an married and I travel for work a great deal. Is cybersex or phone sex with someone wrong if I don't intend to actually meet the person? Isn't it just a mutual release between 2 adults?

We'll I can understand what you mean. While albeit it is a bit strange, your not cheating on your wife. Just relax, do what you gotta do from actually cheating on your wife. Be a good husband, you got this.

I would try to talk to her about it, some women just need some prodding/coaxing and they'll do it...

There's nothing wrong with phone sex or cyber sex, just the only problem here is that it can become kind of a recourse for some married men and they end up taking it home with them. Now doing it alone in your basement while your wife and kids are asleep would be kind of weird, lol. I wouldn't do it a lot, but obviously if its just cyber "sex" and you only do a few times I'd say its *okay*. I'd say no to the phone deal altogether, though.

Would you like your wife to have phone sex (or sex of any kind) with other men?

A good husband would definitely be against it. A good husband will also recognize that it is wrong for him to have sex of any kind with anyone but his wife. Save your "release" for her!

I think it is rather shady. You're married and you should be doing those things with the one you love, and gave your life to. Spice up your marriage and do some spicy stuff with your wife instead of somebody you don't know!

I can understand why the cybersex or phone sex seems like a good idea but if you are going to do something like that make sure it's with your wife... and who knows maybe it will give you some ideas for when you get back...

I once had cyber sex with a girl and later on i found out it was the old man from down the road.

It's very wrong. Have phone sex with your wife!

If it's not with your wife, definitely wrong! Get your priorities straight!

common man, go back to high school, masturbate!

Where should a prespective travel agent look to work?

Where should a prespective travel agent look to work? What are some big companies to work for and how do you go about getting an interview?

Omega World Travel comes to mind. The airlines also hire travel agents to book their seats. You can also look on hotjobs or monster.com for a job in travel.

Where can I find contact information for work &travel exchange agents in the Philippines?

I work for a non-profit organization called CETUSA. We provide sponsorship for exchange students coming to the US to gain work and cultural experience during their summer vacation. We are looking to expand our services into the Philippines. We need contact information for agents already involved in work & travel summer programs. Check us out at www.cetusa.org.

What I need to travel to Canada if I am on a Us work and travel visa ?

I would like to see Niagara Falls from the Canadian side. I am on a Us work and travel visa that will expire in october. I want just to pass the border Us/ Canada with my friends (they all have a green card except me) and come back in Us in the same day. Do I need to aply for a tourist visa for Canada and then, the other questions is when I 'm coming back to Us I wont have problems with my visa ?

Your work and travel visa must be approved for Canada by the Canadian Consulate in the U.S.In addition, you will require your passport.Without your passport ,all the work and travel visas from around the globe will do you no good.

You can also verify by surfing on over to the Canadian Immigration Service web site where you will find definitive answers to your questions;or,contact the Canadian Consulate nearest you.You will find it in your phone book.

if you are not american i would get a visa and make sure you have your passport

I would recommend a visa. You can get over the border no problem, you will probably have a hard time getting back!

I want to work in the travel business from my home, any suggestions?

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy travel business that offers this line of work from home and would provide training?

No, they are all scams to have you slave infront of your pc for little money when doing it for a company. I suggest getting a real job. Careful because when they train you , you have to sign a contract stating you won't go into bus for yourself. If you violate they will sue you faster than you thought possible.

I have the perfect travel opportunity for you! Check out my websites:

I prefer not to give you info here in the answer. However, I am sure you know where to find the link with all the info and how to contact me. Have a great day.

Become a travel agent!! Get licensed and you can work from your house on your PC. Plus, travel agents always get great deals on travel for themselves!

Finally, If you happen to live in Salt Lake City, you can work as a JetBlue reservations agent. They all work from their living rooms with a laptop. So when you call 1800jetblue, you are talking to someone possibly in their pj's or less

Should I work in the airline industry or as a travel agent?

Hey folks! I want to ask you if I should work in the airline industry or as a travel agent in such companies such as Triple AAA or Travelocity? Right now, I'm currently taking an air and travel class in San Francisco and after that, I have to do an internship for 9 weeks. After the internship is over, I begin to start a carrier. Now do you think that I should work in the airline industry such as Virgin America or Southwest Airliens or Jetblue or work in a travel agency such as Triple AAA or Travelocity. I have a degree in Communication Studies and they said that you can work in the airline industry in what positions. So let me know about it.

Yes, you should work in the airlines industry. If you are looking for a good company I would reccommend Travelocity because it it the best know out of the bunch (they sponser all the cruises given out on Amazing Race which is one of the most watched reality tv shows and each time they show the destination and that makes the watchers want to go to that place by way of Travelocity). If you have a communications degree that will definitely help you because you will be more versatile. You could probably work anywhere in the airline industry (except maybe pilot :) ) if you have those degrees you mentioned.

Hope you get the job you're wanting!

Why do some people need to travel such long distances to work?

Why do some people need to travel such long distances to work?

What do you think about people having to travel (long distances) to work everyday?

Do you think more people have to do this today than previously?

Way more today than previously. People can't always afford to live in the area where they work. This seems to be especially true in So Cal, and probably surrounding big cities like NY and Chicago.

I do it and find it to be a real bummer. It creates a lot of extra stress and really adds to the length of your day. A one hour drive each way makes me gone from home for 11 hours (I have to take an hour lunch).

Thank goodness for the weekends!

The health care industry now has more outreach programs, satellite clinics,& home health clients. I think it's wonderful they come to you vs you going to them when your situation is already comprimised.

to work

I think the basic reason is that people want to have big houses. They don't want to get an apartment or condo in the city where they work, rather they insist on getting a single family home out in the suburbs where it's cheaper. Sometimes it's necessary, but often times the cost and stress of commuting will outweigh any benefits.

Yes, commutes are longer nowadays. Most people commute because the jobs are around the cities and people choose to live in the suburbs. A lot of times, even the suburbs around a city don't have very good public schools, so they have to go farther out.

Hi I am alex from Greece!I can't find a job here and i am looking in every "corner"of this wold to find a job....If you don't have any ather choise that is the only thik you have to do......

people travel long distance to work because they have families and responsibilities and also because the area they live in might not pay as well.

their dedicated. only if they need to

I'm in So Cal. Most do it for higher pay. I argue that the difference in pay is often not worth it. I consider myself working from the time I start the day until I'm home and showered from work. Alot of people consider themselves off work when sitting on the road instead of their couch? So in my mind may pay is averaged over the time I spent for work not the time I was there. So add in the long drive as work time and the hourly pay is actually lower than advertised. People often don't consider the cost of transportation, purchase of a car, maint and fuel add up fast with a lot of driving. I'd say easily 50% of commuters could effectivly have the same income locally with the lower advertised income, but they don't do the math on the whole picture.

Do your own homework.

Frequent flyers: I travel a lot and should probably get frequent flyer. How do these work?

I almost always travel with Singapore Airlines (work pays). What is their program like? Any info? Can I get points for shopping at kmarts etc? Can I transfre my points from my gold visa????

yeah, you should definitely enroll. some airlines have a frequent flyers program. for each mile you travel, you get a point for that. after you've accumulated enough points, it will be converted into a free trip to a corresponding destination. to learn more, pls go to:

http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/content/krisflyer/aboutkf/maximise.jsp

Definitely enroll, and be sure to find out about their alliances, too. Sometimes one airline will give you frequent flyer miles if you travel with a partner airline in their alliance. You can save a ton of money this way.

When performing freelance work that requires travel to other states, where do you pay taxes?

For example, I claim residency in Florida but have many clients in Atlanta. I travel there for work sometimes but I do not necessarily complete the projects while in the city. Do I pay taxes to Georgia only for the work I complete in Georgia, or not pay taxes to Georgia at all since I claim residency in FL, or pay taxes to Georgia for all of the project since the client is located in GA?

Thanks.

On you tax return you have to count the income recieved from GA and you will have to pay GA for that income. You list FL as you resident state and GA as non-resident. Since FL doesnt have state taxes you will not have to pay state taxes in FL.

How can one work and travel in Ireland without being a student?

I am interested in doing a work and travel program in Ireland. I have looked on many websites, and it seems like that is only possible when one is a student at a university in the US. Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas, or links that I could look at??

It would mean getting a residency/work permit, and this is very expensive, and you would need a job offer in Ireland in order to be able to do this. Alternatively, you could investigate whether or not your immediate ancestors were born in an EU country, which would mean that you could apply for citizenship of that country, and then you wouldn't need the work permit. EU nationals can live and work in other EU countries.

Right now, as a US citizen, you are out of luck, unless you have a specific qualification or skill that's rare and required in Ireland. We are also suffering from the backlash of the economic downturn, so at the moment Irish employers are taking on Irish nationals mainly.

The first answer is correct; you need to apply for a work permit/visa. There is no shortcut.

No jobs here at the moment, trust me

How much do I charge if I travel 80 miles for consulting work?

Currently I am charging $100 an hour for consulting work in Orange County, CA. In a few months I will move to San Diego, CA and will have to travel about 80 miles to see clients in Orange County. Do I keep charging $100 an hour or do I increase it slightly because of travel and gas?

how many miles to the gal. does your vehicle get? If you get 20 miles to the gal it will take you 4 gal of gas to reach your destination. Multiply that 4 gals by the price per gallon you are paying. Now x that by 2 (round trip). Then figure how long it will take you to make the round trip.

Subtract from from your days earnings, gas, time to go to and from , and your meals. You can also figure wear and tear on your vehicle if you want. Take that number and divide it by the number of hrs you were with the client. That should give you a pretty close figure on what you are actually charging your client.

I think you should remain at $100 because it is not existing clients fault that you have moved away.

First, are you under contract with the people/companies for whom you perform consulting services? If so, what does/do your contract(s) provide regarding fee increases. If the contracts preclude you from increasing your fees then there is nothing you can do unless, you want to re-negotiate your contracts.

Second,do you charge for the time you spend driving? If so, your consultation fee will increase by at least $200, and maybe as much as $500, since it will probably take you at least 2 hours, but probably more, to drive back and forth. How do you think your clients will react to paying this additional fee?

If you do not charge for the time you spend driving, you may want to consider charging for mileage. Most companies reimburse mileage at between $.35 and $.485 per mile so this gives you a starting point. Check around and see what the common practice in your area is. Again, how do you think your clients would react to an increase of between $56 and $77.60? Probably not an unreasonable increase; however, do not forget to review your contracts before making any changes.

If you are not paid for you mileage, you can deduct it on your tax returns.

Mileage is a business expense that can be deducted on your income tax return. You can deduct 48.5 cents per mile for business. If you drive 80 miles total per day that is $38.80 you can deduct. If you increase your consulting fee, do it because you are not being paid what you should compared to others in your field. Gas prices will go up and (barely) down. Research how much others charge for your type of work.

If you choose to move 80 miles away and still service clients where you currently are, then yes you could charge more per hour but you'll risk losing your current clients. I know that I wouldn't be happy about it and possibly would look for another consultant who is local. I would eat the extra cost as overhead for now until the end of your fiscal year. Then consider re-evaluating your hourly rate and send out a letter to all of your clients informing them of the increase in your hourly rate. Increasing hourly rates every year or two is normal for consultants, cpas, attorneys, etc.

Otherwise, try to be more efficient in your work. Is it possible to utilize more technology to do your work? Can you use web conferences, etc. and less face-to-face meetings?

Where can I travel to volunteer, or work, outside of Canada with a Criminal Record?

I am 25, healthy, and would like to travel somewhere to either volunteer or work. Please any suggestions would help.

Seriously dude, if you have a criminal record you shouldn't just be TRAVELING outside Canada..you need to RELOCATE for good. I don't want to post any details on how to do it, but as you travel you will figure out good countries and how to go about it. it really is possible to get completely off the radar, and in this new Dark Age ahead, skills like that will be valuable to have.

dboy

what kind of criminal record? click here i will counsel you and i believe you will get a place to volunteer: www.tafuganda.page.tl

How do you get work at Travel Channel, National Geographic as a travel photographer? Or as anything?

I want to work for travel channel, it must be my job to travel the world. Im studying film directing and taking photography courses. How and where do you think i should get a job that will allow me to travel?

Thanks a mil...

Photographers for National Geographic are at the top of their field. Don't expect to get an offer right out of photography school. Look for a job that pays the rent first. Having discouraged you, let me say that there is hope. I attended one of their seminars, which was an excellent orientation to the field. Here is the link to the schedule: http://ngtravelerseminars.com/. In the one I attended, there was a section for pitching ideas. If they heard something that sounded interesting then they pursued it. They seek the kind of imagery that tells a story. It's not the stuff you can buy in a postcard store. So travel and bring your camera. Look for the unique, rare, or surprising and which conveys an emotion or evokes one in the viewer. Build up your experience. Hone your skills. Be self-critical. A good photographer can get a winning shot with a 3 megapixel camera, while a hack will still get junk from an $8,000 DSLR.

Most of the world has already been photographed ad nauseum so there are already millions of pictures out there. Yours have to be different.

It can be because of things that are happening, news events etc. It could be because you have some specialist knowledge in another field such as birds, animals or plants hydro electric schemes, oil exploration, humanities etc. Yes an eclectic mix, but it's your specialist knowledge that's important, not your photographic skills, though they have to be high too.

Look at the articles in National Geographic they all have some theme other than photography. They are beautiful photographs, so their photography skills are high, but it's their knowledge of Global Warming or the tribesmen of the Amazon or some similar specialty that got them there.

Chris

omg that is sucha good question, i have always wanted to do the same too, i am also taking photography courses... I can't wait too see what type of answers you get.

Good luck!
