Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many travel writer jobs are sought after by travel writers all over the world. Their stories are the same. They are looking for travel writing jobs not only to pay the bills but that will "jump start" their career. With so much competition, what's a travel writer to do? The first thing to do is "get out of your head" and quit the negative self-talk! It's not useful and will give you a massive tension headache.

Travel writer jobs are posted all over the internet. You can find travel writing opportunities on many job boards. The majority are freelance writing opportunities; you may or may not work on site. Consider a combination of on-site and work-at-home writing positions. It could be a win-win situation.

Seven "To-Do" Steps

1. Make sure your writing skills are up-to-date. If you feel that your writing can use some improvement then take a travel writing course or two. Visit our website and check out the Top 10 Writing Course section to learn more.

2. Decide if blogging, online article writing, copy writing, newspapers, or magazines are right for you. Which format will fit your personality?

3. Visit WordPress or Blogger and create a FREE travel writing blog. This is a great way to showcase your writing. Plus, it's easier to send a link versus many samples of your writing.

4. Know the application and submission process before applying for a travel writer job. Correctly spell the name of the person hiring for the position.

5. Create a current resume. If you're not sure how to create a resume, ask a family member or friend who can do it for you or pay a resume writer.

6. Peruse travel writing forums. You'll be able to find information on rates, employers, and it's a great way to network. Check out the forum on TravelWriters.com; you must sign up with TravelWriters.com to partake in the forum discussions.

7. Before applying for a travel writing job, browse various jobs by visiting Craigslist, Indeed, and other job boards. See what travel writing opportunities are being posted. Review the employer, what kind of travel writing they are looking for, and qualifications. If it's a magazine, review past travel articles to familiarize yourself with the style and tone of the magazine. Be prepared to submit a sample article using the magazine's style and tone.

Follow these 7 steps and you'll land that perfect travel writing opportunity for you. Who knows, you may end up with several opportunities. Remember what Calvin Coolidge said:

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

Why Travel Solo?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The wonderful thing about travel: it provides you with experiences that will remain locked forever in the scar tissue of your mind - Dave Barry.

Solo travel can be a daunting experience but well-worth the effort. When women travel alone, an entire world of new opportunities opens it's doors! Unaccompanied women travelers have the gift of being able to focus on their travel needs instead of focusing on everyone else's.

And solo travel also offers you the unique opportunity to strike up interesting conversations with people wherever your journeys may take you. Locals and fellow travelers will be impressed by and curious about your brave independence, which can lead to a great conversation and possibly a life-long friendship. So if you are without friends, spouse, family members or a co-worker to share in your travel experience, don't fret -- solo travel offers the opportunity for you to enjoy a trip on your own terms. And the hardest part just may be coming back home!

Women who take the plunge and travel the world alone can truly enjoy tasting the fruits of exotic places, shop for to-die-for fashions in the thick of the world's most sophisticated cities and really take in ancient sites. The ability to visit the sites that interest you and only you, when and how you want to, allows you to find what truly satisfies you, mind, body and soul.

But how do you know about that out-of-the-way boutique with haute couture at wholesale prices, or how do you find that tasty trattoria in Florence when it's off the beaten path? A travel agent, of course! A travel agent can not only direct a woman traveling alone to the best and the brightest travel spots to suit her needs, but the travel professional can also offer expert tips, advice and safety precautions. Your travel agent will help you determine the package that will be tailored to fit your needs, guaranteeing your happiness and safety.

A knowledgeable travel agent provides an added sense of security that will be necessary to help your trip run as smoothly as possible. Many women are skeptical of traveling alone due to safety concerns and a lack of time or savvy to plan the trip. A travel agent can schedule unique ways to fill your free time, develop a personalized itinerary, and, if necessary, organize a group tour at your destination. Whatever your travel needs, your agent will be a vital part of ensuring your enjoyment. Your travel agent will also help you understand your surroundings by providing trusted tour guides and helping you to navigate your destination to make sure you avoid potentially dangerous areas.

Safety is an essential part of any travel experience, and when women travel solo, it becomes even more important. Discuss your safety needs with your travel agent and she can offer pointers and tips that only a seasoned traveler would know, keeping you safe and sound as you explore the world. Your agent will offer advice on how to dress and observe cultural norms, helping you to blend in once you arrive at your destination, preventing you from being targeted for crimes or harassment.

A travel agent can also help you stay connected with your loved ones. In today's high-tech world, your contacts are only a phone call, text message, or email away. Your travel agent can provide a list of cybercafés, phone services and other communications access points that will help you stay in touch with your family and friends back home, putting your mind and theirs at ease.

If you work closely with your travel agent and use good judgment, you will be equipped with the necessary tools to travel solo and enjoy yourself immensely. The new sights, sounds, locales, museums, restaurants and the possibility of new friends will combine to produce the most memorable experience of your lifetime. The wonders of the world await. So stop waiting for a companion to tag along. Contact your travel agent to create a travel package that you will remember forever!

Travel And Work Combine For The Best Career

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you've every wanted to see the world, try to get a job that requires traveling. It can be a great way to visit new cities and meet all kinds of people. However, traveling for your business can also be a stressful way to make a living. Many business people that I know grow tired of going through security airport, dealing with noise on planes, and working long hours or attending numerous meetings on their business trip. Often they rarely see anything but the airport, the hotel room, and meeting rooms the whole trip. Yet there is an alternative to let you work and see the country as well. Look into a Swift trucking job and work on the open road.

A trucking job gives you an open cabin and a long drive through America’s homeland. Although you must meet deadlines for a trucking job similar to any other job, you have a more flexible schedule as a truck driver. You can often plan your own breaks for food and sleep. A trucking job also gives you a sizeable paycheck, no college degree required. If you are 21 or older, with a clean driving and citizen record, you can receive CDL training and start driving.

Although the trucking industry has its negative stereotypes, these hard workers help our country run smoothly and swiftly, with continued improvements in the industry to make drivers safer and more comfortable on the road. With the industry growing rapidly each year and a shortage of available truckers, the industry can give truck drivers more incentives and promotions, including higher salaries and other benefits. You can be healthy and satisfied with a truck driving job.

While searching for a Swift trucking job, remember that Swift has the largest truckload fleet in the U.S. You can find a job at any of their regional offices throughout the U.S. and Mexico. They are continually evolving to meet employee and customer needs and services, enabling you to find the job that fits you

RCI Points Timeshares - How Does the RCI Points Program Work?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Resort Condominiums International (RCI) is the world’s largest timeshare vacation exchange company. In addition to regular fixed week timeshares, they now offer the RCI Points program which allows you to be much more flexible in how you use your vacation time. The growing popularity of points-based timesharing programs, such as RCI, Worldmark and Fairfield, means that you are no longer limited to a single Sunday to Saturday week for your vacation. If you really want to spread your vacation around, you don’t have to use your vacation in week-long segments. You can take a day, or several days, or even several weeks. You also get to select what day of the week you’d like to begin your vacation rather than always having to arrive on a Sunday.

Since RCI has timeshares in more than 100 countries around the world, it is frequently one of the best options for a points-based program. What this means is that if you have RCI points, you can really pick and choose where you want to vacation this year. RCI Points let you choose the time, destination and duration of your vacation as well as allow you to trade Points for other services such as airfare, tours, cruises, and car rentals. You can save your Points for next year. You can transfer your Points to someone else. You can even rent points for about 2 cents a point.

If you own a vacation week at an RCI Weeks Resort, you can convert your vacation week into RCI Points. Or if you already have points, you can also deposit additional vacation weeks in exchange for points if you need more during a particular year. This gives you the ultimate flexibility because you can use your RCI Points in a much more flexible manner than a standard RCI Weeks membership. This does not mean that you are giving up ownership of your timeshare if you convert your RCI Weeks to RCI Points. All you are doing is adding a new option to your current RCI vacation plan.

If you are not an owner at a Points affiliated resort, you can buy a timeshare at a resort that has already been converted to RCI Points through RCI or through any timeshare reseller. Ebay is a great place to find deals on RCI Points as well. RCI Points works somewhat differently than a points-based timeshare like WorldMark. With RCI Points, you will still own at a specific resort and hold a priority booking window at that resort between 11 and 13 months out for your original week. With WorldMark you don’t own at a specific property, but can just book anywhere within their system and it works on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is an assigned RCI Points value for all RCI units and time frames. You can use your RCI Points for an RCI Weeks vacation spot, as well as using it at resorts that are already within the Points-based system. The number of point needed for a RCI Week vary according to location but a ball park figure is about 50,000 RCI Points for a gold 2-bedroom unit.

RCI Points membership has an annual fee attached which covers the exchange privileges. For a membership of 1 or 2 years duration, the fee is $99 (USD) per year. For a longer membership, up to 5 years, the fee is $93 (USD) per year. This fee is in addition to your maintenance fee at your resort and naturally maintenance fees vary based on where your timeshare is located and what amenities it offers. So if you are looking to purchase your first RCI Points membership, then it makes sense to shop around for a deal featuring the most number of points for the lowest maintenance fee you can find, especially if you don’t intend to vacation at the same resort every year.

The Four Day Work Week

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Across the nation any number of employers are converting to 10 hour four day work weeks as a way to cut gasoline costs for the work force. This would save 20 percent of the fuel required for travel to and from work, an imaginative and welcome idea! For the most part the work schedule will become Monday through Thursday, with Friday off.

Not everyone will go to four day work weeks in the companies that make this change because some jobs and some responsibilities simply dictate at least five days of service and availability. And, of course, not all employers will make the change. But the big news is that some employers are making the change. This writer can think of no better way to reduce workplace stress. I hope that a trend develops until it becomes the national norm to have every weekend a three day weekend!

The shorter work week with longer working hours on the workdays is not new. This approach, along with flex hours and shared shifts (two people sharing one job) are practices long advocated by unions and supported generally by leaders of the adult education movement. Three consecutive days off from work allows so much more usable time for adults to do other dimensions of their lives. Some of these include exercise, social interaction, care of family, involvement with church, leisure pursuits, vacation, recreation, sports and hobbies, community service, and education.

Many people have never found an eight hour five day work week to make sense. The instinct is to work when we work and play when we play. Eight hours at work eats up travel time to and from work, as well as the prime time hours of those working days. It is enough time to make any additional activities before or after work either impractical or too energy-draining. But eight hours do not necessarily use up all of the hours and energy we have available for work. In other words, by spreading forty hours of work over five days one could say we get the worst of all worlds: five days are taken for work, we experience rush hour ten times a week, and the remaining two days have too much crammed into them because of all the things we couldn't get to during the work week.

Attendance at adult events has been falling off for many years. So, too has the number of adults stepping forth to be volunteers. More and more adults in any household must work to support the household, and must work longer hours. There is less and less time remaining for other pursuits.

Why stop at four day work weeks? Why not also go to four day school weeks? Many children already spend time before and after classes at school while their parents are at work. A longer school day would not be such a drastic change from current schedules but every Friday off would be a great change, for the better. This would also allow teachers and administrators to be on a four day work week.

Flexibility in schedule is a prime stress management and stress prevention consideration, something long overdue in this country. Never mind that it could come about as a result of economic considerations. And yes, it will create some problems and difficulties. On the other hand, consider the difficulties with the five day work week, beginning with rush hour traffic and five days out of every seven gobbled up by a job. Many of us have become so accustomed to these difficulties that we no longer perceive them as difficulties, just part of life!

As a nation we have before us the opportunity to make lemonade out of a lemon. The high price of gasoline represents not only a challenge to live with less consumption of fuel but also to become more flexible about the makeup of our work week. A better use of time, not just a better use of gasoline, would do us all some good.

Travel Nursing Jobs Offer Excellent Pay

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Our nation is suffering from a major lack of available nursing care these days. Given the unfortunate understaffing at numerous institutions, they are utilizing another approach to hiring nursing professionals. There are an increased number of openings for nurses who are willing to travel as part of their employment arrangements and more nurses are signing on for that. They earn more than in a traditional nursing position and have the additional advantage of a welcome change of scene.

The first thing you can do to get into a travel nursing job is to do an online search for 'travel nurse'. This should direct you to various different agencies that deal in travel nursing jobs.

After you have had a chance to browse the agency's website, develop some questions that you want to have answered by their representatives. Once this list of questions is in your head, you can begin to make phone inquiries with the places you have selected. Remember that at this point the agency will try hard to sell themselves to you, but you should not allow them to talk talk you into a position that you do not want to be in.

Be certain that special dispensation for children and pets can be made, if you choose to accept such an employment offer. This may, of course, mean moving a family across the country every few months, which makes it vital to discuss this with your family prior to electing to take any travel nursing jobs.

Make sure there aren't any other credentials that are needed for the jobs you're interested in. An agency is usually willing to assist you in getting into online nursing programs or with tests that will qualify you for work in other states. Agencies offer this important service because each state has individual laws regarding to the licensing of nurses.

Among the last things for you to consider before embarking on a career in mobile nursing are your wages, your mode of travel, vital records, and your work of choice. Normally, a set pay structure will be offered to you. Prior to beginning your job, you must accept it or request a revision. Are you aware of the method of transportation you will use to arrive at your new assignments? Is your car roadworthy? Even for a cross-country trip?

Before you depart, be sure to find all the important documents you will need to bring with you and put them all together. Then make the right decision for you, so that your experience will be both challenging and rewarding. There are so many opportunities available and you need to be sure you will be happy where you are going.

What is a Travel Agent?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Let's first define the word travel and the word agent as the starting point for answering the question of what is a travel agent.

The word travel of course refers to the act of going from one place to another. And, according to Webster's New World College Dictionary, the word agent refers to one who acts for another. Also, a travel agent acts for both the supplier and the purchaser of travel and travel related services.

Therefore, the question of what is a travel agent is perhaps answered best by saying that:

A travel agent is one who arranges the sale and purchase of all forms, categories and types of transportation, accommodations, tours, and trips.

A travel agency (or bureau) is the name used by businesses that engage in arranging the sale and purchase of travel and travel related services. Travel agents work as employees or they can work independently.

If travel is viewed as the legs of the tourism industry, then the community of travel agents is viewed as the indispensable backbone of that industry.

But, there is a new kid on the block and that new kid is the internet (World Wide Web). You might say that the use of the internet to arrange travel services is a different kind of travel agent, or travel agency depending on your view.

It is difficult to say if the internet will eventually replace travel agents as the "backbone" of the tourism industry. But, before you decide on how you will make travel arrangements take a look at some additional information that may influence your view on using travel agents.

How To Find Work Overseas - 5 Tips To Get That Job Abroad

Image : http://www.flickr.com

So you want to know how to find work overseas?

First you need to know, working in your own country alone can be a challenge so if you desire to work abroad then there is one quality that you simply must have. Determination. If you are planning to work, move or travel to say, Italy , France , Thailand or some exotic island, then this quality is vital.

Once you have the determination you then need to have a strategy on how to find work overseas and getting that job abroad. So how do you make it happen?

Here are 5 strategies that you can use to start your journey.

1) Just Do it

Pack your bags and GO. Now this strategy is simple but definitely not for the weak of heart. Pick a country, go there and hope all goes well. But of course you need to so some planning before hand. Do some research on your chosen countries job market, get some contacts that you can use or call when you arrive. Be sure you have some pocket money on the side to last you until you find a job there.

As you can see, there are risks involved. You may, or may not find a job. If anything else, you have had an adventurous experience.

2) Get Posted Abroad

Find a company that is known for sending their employees abroad and work for them. Of course its no guarantee that you will be chosen when the next posting comes around so letting your manager know of your interest might help. I know of a few friends who worked for 5 star hotels and actually got transferred abroad.

3) Volunteer Programs

Take time out and do something worthwhile! Volunteer. There are several volunteers programs you can check out. Often times volunteering can be very hard but the sense of achievement is enormous.

4) Go Back to School

There are plenty of opportunities in other countries, from teaching courses, language courses to ongoing programs in archeology. Once you are there, try and get as many local connections that you need in order to get a paid job. These information you can use later in the future. Having said that, you should also be fully aware of the rules and restrictions for work permits.

Remember, you are there under a student visa, so taking a full time job may get you into trouble. And that is the last thing you need.

5) Freelance

Everyone has their own skills that they could benefit from. What you can do here, you can most probably do overseas. You can freelance as consultants, technical writers, journalists, graphic artists, modeling, teach English or any language that you know. You will be surprised at how quickly your income generates by just freelancing.

Hope that helps and get you started on how to find work overseas.

Michael Alfie has been traveling and working around the world for over 7 years. He has now since retired. He highly recommends people to step out of the comfort zone and work and travel abroad.

Why Do We Travel & Are We Missing the Fun and Excitement in Our Vacations?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Traveling is fun and rewarding. It is the reward we give ourselves for working hard all year. It is the time we don't get to spend with our families. It is perfection!

Or is it? Sometimes ensuring the ultimate vacation becomes much more stressful than regular life itself. Think about it, we're sitting there planning our trip hoping it's the best because we only get one shot a year if that.

We are working more and more and missing more and more that is truly important in our lives. I feel sick to my stomach when I see myself or others have to work sixty-plus hours a week. Yes, we take pride in our work, but there is much more to life than work, work, work.

Plus, with all the articles and tips and tricks out there it has become an art and a science to finding a good deal, asking the right questions, negotiating good prices, finding the right travel destination, and so forth.

Let's get back to the basics of having a wonderful and memorable vacation...

Here are our top tips for doing just that:

**Have fun. Plan your trip while having fun. Get everyone involved. If you feel stressed, take a break. Ask for help - we have helped numerous folks find what they were looking for, but because the web is so big, they didn't know where to start.

**A budget is important, but sometimes you just have to say screw it! Don't live off bread and peanut butter just to have your vacation. Figure out how to splurge a little.

**Don't end up like the Griswold's. Remember the funny vacation movies many of us watch over and over laughing the whole time? In real life it's not as funny. Set rules if need be, plan accordingly, and have a good time. Just like the old saying, "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work."

**Utilize resources. Technology is a great thing. Use it intelligently and you will have a superb vacation experience. You can find everything you need at the click of a button.

**Be sure to relax, do what everyone wants to do, spend time together, and forget about the world you left behind for a few days. A study said many people actually work somewhat on vacation. Give it up. I know it may pile up, but the heck with it.

You don't get this much during the year. It's sad that we are giving up so much just to hang on to something that may be gone shortly.

One thing you can't forget or give away are your memories and the time you spend doing things you love.

Get back to basics and enjoy your travel and vacations. Tell everyone about your trip, take a ton of pictures, and love every minute of it!!!

Travel is a necessity. It is something we love to do and need to do. As avid travellers, Discount Florida Vacations offers tips, stories, and the fun parts of planning your trip while sharing photos, your vacation, and more!

Travel services have become an integral part of the fast growing tourism industry in the United States. Travel agents can provide specialized services which are in demand like never before and play a vital role in helping travelers manage their travel needs.

There are number of reasons why travelers require travel services. Some of these include better hotel deals, package deals, hassle free vacations, itinerary planning, and advice. While domestic travel can be managed without the professional guidance of a good travel agent, you will need his services for a foreign trip.

Listed below are some of the important reasons why you must use the services of an agent for making your travel plans:

For local trips:

Many travelers use the services of an agent to plan their local trip to avail of the bulk airfare and cheap local tour packages they offer. For most travelers, it is the convenience that is most important when planning a trip. If you are managing everything independently, you will have to spend a great deal of time and energy booking your air tickets online, booking car rentals, making hotel reservations, and so on.

However when you work with a travel agent, he takes care of all your travel needs and ensures that he works out the best deal that fits your pocket. Generally, hotels tie up with prominent travel agencies to ensure clientele all throughout the year. They may offer discounts and package deals, which you can avail of only if you plan your trip using these travel agencies.

For foreign trips:

Apart from the convenience of booking your holiday with the help of a ravel agent, you can be assured of a hassle-free holiday even in high season. Small travel issues such as hotel booking cannot be managed easily if you are traveling to a foreign land.
Unless you know someone who has been to that country before, you will have to rely only on the Internet for information about that country. Often, images on the Internet are misleading and you may end up with a bad deal. If you are planning a trip during the high season, you may not get reservations or convenient flight bookings.

Your travel agent will guarantee you a stress free holiday in some of the most exotic destinations in the world.

Negotiating - Travel agents are in a better position to bargain for good deals, as they have access to all available flights, car rentals, package tours, and hotel bookings.

Visa - Your travel agent knows the visa requirements of the country you are traveling to. In addition, you can look forward to a smooth application process when working with a travel agent. Travel agents can also help you to obtain or renew a passport making your travel easier.

Professional guidance - Your agent can help you to chalk out a convenient itinerary on the basis of places of interest and also inform you about the etiquette, culture, and customs prevailing in that country. You can also seek assistance of your travel agent for currency exchange.

Home-Based Travel Agent - Work at Home

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many professionals nowadays find comfort in taking a home-based job primarily because they're fed up of the office ambiance. Practically, you want to give it a shot as to how to be your own boss by starting to work from home. Other companies also welcome the idea of favoring their employees to work at home provided they deliver their tasks accordingly. Maybe you are one of them. You're lucky that you can manage your time and be productive in the end with less supervision.

If you are considering work at home, why not become a home-based travel agent? People from all over the world do their travel bookings online. Your job entails gathering, encoding and confirming your client's information. You might have to create good relationships with hotel and airline companies for this one.

The tourism industry is exciting in that it allows you to get connected to everybody with different races, religion and language. English is your universal medium of course, so you don't need to learn other foreign languages. It might be a plus, though, if you know how to speak the languages of French, German and Spanish speaking travelers.

As a home-based agent, you will be ready to respond to email inquiries, concerns and feedbacks. Your desktop and Internet connection must be secured to avoid delay of transactions. You will also need a reliable phone line and quiet environment where you can work effectively.

If you are a quick respondent to your clients, they will likely get your services repeatedly. Jet-setters prefer quick responses because usually they're in a rush. Other companies offer paid training to hired home-based agents.

Travel Ventures International TVI Review

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The Travel Ventures International or TVI domain was registered in April of 2008. My first glance impression is that this company does have a very pretty website. This company operates out of London, England within the United Kingdom. The goal of this company is to deliver the Travel & Hospitality products and services as well as giving MLM Distributors a chance to earn extra income with their built-in Compensation Structure.

Travel Ventures International or TVI claims to take pride in its ability to offer the latest in Internet Based Training Systems and say that they have a bullet proof plan for wealth creation. This company does admit that to build their business will take a lot of hard work on your part, but that they are there to help you during every step of the process. They will give you your own Website, Personal Back Office Management System, Downline Progress Reports, Internet Marketing Tools in addition to Offline Promotional Tools.

I read on their website that Travel Ventures International or TVI is striving to reach new heights of excellence and they plan on doing this by using a force which they claim is more powerful than Network Marketing, by forming geniune lasting relationships that will establish long-term financial rewards and personal self-actualization. They say that what they are doing has not been done in Network Marketing before.

Travel Ventures International or TVI has aligned itself with some of the top names in the Travel Industry like Sheraton, Avis, Crystal Cruises, British Airways, Royal Caribbean and about one dozen others. I think it's a good company if you are in England since they have some very strict Network Marketing Laws. If you are from the U.S. and needed to sue them you would have trouble collecting on a judgment.

It costs $250.00 or so to join Travel Ventures International or TVI. They are using what is called a "Revolving Matrix" which is split up in 3 related matrix plans. The first Matrix Plan is called the Travelers Board. It's a 2x4 Matrix. Then you get pushed up into the Express Board which is another 2 x 4 matrix board. Then you'll make about $15,000 per month. Then you get put into the real matrix which is a 5 x 10 matrix where the big money is the program is made. These matrices do have spillover.

They also have incentives where you can earn Laptops and Cars. The FTC in the USA does frown a lot on these types of MLM Compensation Plans. There is also a lot of room for breakage in this Compensation Plan. And these days the FTC are really after Travel Companies so if you are a big rep in the US and brings a large following into this company, you might have some backlash to worry about down the road.

Also Travel Ventures International or TVI said the payout is 72%. The MLM Industry average is 40-50%. If a company pays out more than 50%, it will be hard for the company to keep its sustainability for more than a few years. I think the company has good intentions and is legit as far as it's strategic alliance partners go. I also think there is short term money to be made in the program but I also think it has its drawbacks.

Finally I'd say I do endorse the product, but only if you are about to retire and want to purchase the product just for the product benefits. If you plan on traveling a lot, you can get your monies worth just using these products since they are solid.

International Travel Nursing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

As a nurse you have so many different employment opportunities at your fingertips that you may not even realize it. International travel nursing is one of the biggest and most popular nursing opportunities today. In many places throughout the USA, the hospitals are full and may not need any new nurses and for many just graduating this can be quite an obstacles to overcome and this is where travel nurse employment opportunities comes into play.

For many nurses travel nursing jobs offer the best of both worlds, you get to see the world as well as help the sick and injured people. Of course helping people is why you became a nurse to begin with but when you combine it with positions in Europe, Australia and many other great areas of the world it reaches an entire new level of excitement. Becoming a travel nurse is not difficult, as there are many different travel nurse employment agencies with long list of placement opportunities.

Many nurses are choosing to lend their services to hospitals and missions in places such as Africa and here you can find many different nursing assignments, enough that you will never have to leave if you don't want to. Third world countries such as this are really benefiting from international travel nursing programs and the nurses as well enjoy helping and treating sick adults and children which may have otherwise died. Nurses are incredibly needed in countries such as this and therefore when you choose to travel internationally with your nursing skills, you will never find yourself without a position.

A travel nurse can choose to stay in one country for only a few weeks and then go to the next for maybe a month or more and sometimes maybe never leave a country they have grown to love to live in and work in. These are all benefits of travel nurse employment opportunities and many nurses are taking advantage.

You do not have to worry about your paper work, working visas, etc because the agency you chose to work with will take care of all those details for you. All you have to do is show up and enjoy your work. A travel nurse will see far more tragic and even saddening situations than a nurse staying within their own country. This means that you must be not only physically prepared but emotionally prepared as well to handle some of the diseases and injuries found in different countries throughout the world.

Do Cruise Lines Have Work at Home Reservationists?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Do you like to travel? Do you like to recommend travel destinations for other people? What about cruises? If this sounds like something you would want to do, then becoming a booking agent for cruises is a work at home business that you can do!

As a cruise agent, you will book cruises for people, basically being a reservationist for several cruise lines. You can be paid pretty well to open this kind of business, as people are looking to go on vacation often. If you are a frequent traveler, this will also help out very well, as you will be able to make excellent recommendations on where people should go.

Becoming a cruise line work at home reservationist is relatively easy. You first need to get a business license in order to do business. Check with your local and state governments on the policies and procedures on starting a business in your state. I would also highly suggest you get a hold of a business lawyer to help guide you in the right direction. Once the legal work is out of the way, you should be ready to open up shop.

You can work directly from your home as a cruise line reservationist. All you need is a small, quiet area for an office space, a telephone (cell or landline), computer, a fax machine, printer, and a website. You will need to develop a relationship with all of the major cruise lines as well. The reason for this is obvious, as you will be booking cruises for your clients. Once you do all of this, your business will be ready to go! All you need to do is simply advertise your business to get the word out. Enjoy working from home in your new, exciting career!

Do you want to earn money desperately, but have no income to start an online business? Checkout Work At Home Companies, where you can find reviews of the top work at home programs out there!

Travel - Dealing with Air Sickness and Jet Lag

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you dread the idea of air travel because of air sickness and/or jet lag, there are a few precautions you can take to prevent both.

Air Sickness

Generally, air sickness is at its worst on take off and landing. This is due to the steep attitude of the aeroplane, the sudden increase or decrease in speed and height and the fact that the ground is visible and seems to be rushing past. The difference between what one sees and what the "balance" area of the ears is telling one causes the brain to become confused. The sickness can be a physical or psychological reaction to all of this, the latter being caused more by fear than by an actual physical reaction to the conflicting signals being received by the body.

Normally airsickness manifests itself in a feeling of nausea, which may or may not result in actual sickness, as well as sweating, digestive disturbance and the need to swallow much more than normal.

Even pilots and other aircrew suffer from air sickness, which obviously can prevent them from doing their jobs effectively. As a result, studies were made into the problem and the following means of avoiding air sickness were devised.

1. Stress or fear can cause air sickness because an already emotionally disturbed brain has even more difficultly interpreting the conflicting signals from eyes and ears. So try to relax, don't get stressed and if you already have a fear of flying, take a mild sedative an hour before take off is scheduled.

2. A full stomach can contribute to air sickness, so eat and drink sparingly before getting on the 'plane.

3. Once on board, even when the seat belt signs have been turned off, remain in your seat if possible. If your balance is impaired, any sudden motion of the aircraft is likely to cause sickness.

4. Take anti-air sickness tablets in accordance with the instructions on the box or use the special wristbands on sale in many airport terminals, which are said to have a beneficial effect.

5. Try not to think about air sickness because the more you do, the more you are likely to feel sick. Concentrate on a book or film or get some sleep and you'll soon find that you've forgotten about feeling sick.

Jet Lag

Jet lag can be a curse for people who need to travel extensively for their work because sleep patterns become disturbed and business meetings or training sessions become a real test of endurance.

This really occurs when ones body clock is confused and symptoms include sleeplessness, tiredness, lack of concentration, headaches and a general feeling of disorientation.

Jet lag is usually at its worst when crossing several time zones particularly in an easterly direction, for example from London to Los Angeles. In this instance, say departure from London is 11:00am and the flight is eleven hours long, arrival in Los Angeles will be 2:00pm, whereas ones body clock will think it's 10 o'clock at night and time for bed.

Once again, jet lag can be somewhat psychological. If one is determined to feel jet lagged, then one will! There are a few tricks which help to overcome this problem.

When flying east, get as much sleep as possible. Have a couple of drinks, a meal and relax as if you were having a siesta. Thus when you arrive, you will feel refreshed and better able to last out until a sensible bed time.

Change your watch to the time at your destination; this will help avoid disorientation.

On arrival, try to get some fresh air, have an evening meal at the time you would normally have one (local time) and try not to go to bed before you normally would, say 10:00pm.

Alternatively, if you have been unable to sleep on the 'plane, have a couple of hours sleep at your destination but set an alarm clock so that you don't have too long, which will prevent you sleeping later. Once again, dine and go to bed at your normal time.

If you're travelling for a particularly important event, then it may be best to arrive a couple of days early in order to acclimatise.

Travelling west is much easier as the time at your destination will be ahead of where you started so acclimatisation is not so hard and bed time will arrive that much sooner!

Ultrasound Travel Positions

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Just like other allied travel positions, these are an important and growing part of the medical travel industry. While there are a few travel agencies that specialize solely in placing allied personnel, most allied positions are filled through the large majority of travel nurse companies.

While allied positions, like those in the ultrasound area, are not normally as prolific as nursing travel positions, you can definitely work year around if you are willing to take a few things under advisement.

First, you may have to be more flexible about what parts of the country you are willing to accept assignments. Unless you have the time or finances to hold out for the “perfect thing” each time you want to work, you will probably need to be prepared to accept some assignments that are not your first pick.

Unlike your associates in the nursing area, you will need to start researching your next travel assignment a good 3-4 weeks before you finish your current one in order to secure a smooth transition to a new job site. Waiting until the last minute to notify travel companies that you are available for a new allied assignment could mean you’ll be “hung out to dry” for several weeks between jobs; plus by leaving yourself such a short time table for acquiring a new position, you will have less choice about where you are going.

In addition, be aware that some hospitals require their ultrasound technicians to be registered and will not make an exception to that rule even if you have extensive experience. However, if a hospital merely states a preference for a registered technician, they can often be quickly persuaded to wave those qualifications if you have extensive experience and great references.

Most of the allied personnel I have worked with travel full time and can always find a position they are either really excited about or one they describe as reasonable and acceptable. Allied positions have a few unique “twists and turns” to them that are helpful to know if you are to obtain the best salary and most rewarding benefits.

Travel Industry - Taking Over the World

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Travel is more than going from your living room to some other part of your home or from your home to your work. The travel industry is over a trillion dollar market in the United States alone. The travel industry is also one of the fastest growing industries around and if you are a baby boomer, then you have encouraged its growth.

Additionally, the industry has grown from what seems like every few years, a new global destination stands out as the most popular place to visit. And, regardless of price or location, an insurmountable amount of people tend to flock there.

Do you remember when the family used to get together for that once-a-year family vacation? You know how you would visit the brick-and-mortar spot and book the one to two week social family outing. Well, those family affair days are gone, largely due to the baby boomers living longer, leading healthier lives, and having a lot more money to spend. Plus, the technology available affords most people to visit their computers and plan several outings within a year. More people with more money equal an increased spending power and the travel industry is getting a huge piece of that pie.

Travelers no longer consist of families on an annual vacation, emergencies, or job related journey. The travelers face has changed to housewives who are leaving the children at home with their spouses, while they go on shopping trips, college students who are now conducting international visits as well as stateside trips, retirees who refuse to stay home and reminisce about their previous careers, and many others who just want to go on what most people call ‘getaways’. Whatever the reason, more people today are on the move, causing the travel industry to skyrocket. So, if you are wondering why your neighbors appear to be gone all the time, that’s because they are traveling.

Medication Changes and Travel Insurance - Pre-Existing Medical Conditions Coverage

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Medication changes or adjustments can cause a stable medical condition to be classified as a pre-existing medical condition under many travel insurance companies plans. Now, I don't mean to say that all travel insurance plans throughout the world work exactly like I'm going to explain it. I only work with 6 trip cancellation travel insurance companies mainly because I don't think it's possible to know the details of scores of different plans.

Also, before I go further into this subject I just need to say that what's commonly known as travel insurance really has two different categories:

- travel health / medical insurance

- trip cancellation / interruption travel insurance

While nearly everybody thinks that these kinds of plans are the same, in reality they're not for a few different reasons. So, with the purpose of trying to help you avoid likely claim problems with "travel health / medical insurance plans", here is what we say:

"Pre-existing conditions are not covered. A pre-existing condition is defined as any injury, illness, sickness, disease, or other physical, medical, mental or nervous condition, disorder or ailment that, with reasonable medical certainty, existed at the time of application or at any time during the three years prior to the effective date of the insurance, whether or not previously manifested or symptomatic, diagnosed, treated, or disclosed prior to the effective date, including any subsequent, chronic or recurring complications or consequences related thereto or arising therefrom."

I won't bore you with all the other differences between these types of plans, since I am only addressing changes of medications and pre-existing medical conditions.

Back to the trip cancellation travel insurance plans. Typically, these plans have a Lookback Period of 60 - 180 days prior to the date the travel insurance is purchased. If the person's medical condition has been diagnosed, treated, received advisement on, had symptoms of or changes or adjustments in their prescribed medication during that Lookback Period then most companies will define that medical condition as a pre-existing medical condition.

Having a pre-existing medical condition doesn't mean you can't get travel insurance. It just means that order to get coverage for that pre-existing condition with a trip cancellation travel insurance plan, you have to purchase the insurance within the specified deadline to receive the waiver of the pre-existing medical conditions exclusion. Here are the four rules that you need to follow:

- With a few exceptions, you have to insure at least your trip's full prepaid, non-refundable cost (you can't round it down). If you don't know your final trip cost, estimate it high to be safe. You can always lower to the correct trip cost prior to your departure date. If it drops you to a lower trip cost range, you'll get a partial refund. and

- The person (including non-traveling family members) with the medical condition has to be medically stable when you get your insurance and

- You must get your travel insurance in the first 14 or 21 days after your first trip payment date or no later than 24 Hours after you make your final Trip payment and

- You have to cover your trip's full length.

Group Travel Offers Discounts and Cheap Tickets for Travelers

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are planning a family vacation, why not make it an extended family vacation and receive a great group travel discount? Travel with extended family?! Ok, we aren't crazy and we know it isn't for everyone, but we have found that the bigger the group the bigger the savings. So, if a big family gathering isn't your idea of a vacation, you can round up a large group of friends.

The first thing you need to do is to contact a reputable travel agent or tour group, you can do one stop shopping to plan your group vacation. This allows you to plan the vacation to include your group interests instead of being stuck with a set vacation package. You often receive cheap tickets for airfare and discounts to points of interests, for hotel fair and for meals. Often, you can negotiate a "meals included" price, although this might mean you get whatever they prepare for you.

If you are planning anything from a family reunion or a reunion with friends to a work or company retreat, there is no better way to build memories than through a group vacation. Group travel can be overseas or in country. Some of the best group travel deals that we have found are actually for cruises. Cruises even give good discounts on groups as small as a family of four, with it working out that one of the family members is essentially going for free.

If you want to get away by yourself or the one you love, you can still take advantage of group discount rates. You can work through tour groups or travel agents to locate group vacations that are open to the public. You might be joining 20 people you don't know, but you will pay much less then you would if you went by yourself or just as a couple. In addition, this type of group tour often offers you choices of activities. So, if going a bull fight is not your thing, you can go to the local market and shop.

There are endless group rates and cheap tickets possibilities available. You just need to decide what kind of vacation you want to have, whether it is a relaxing cruise or hiking the European Countryside and then decide whether going with family, friends or strangers is more your style. In the end, you can make your dollar stretch a lot further if you take advantage of group travel offers and discounts.

Tips to Stay Totally Away From Your Work While on a Vacation

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Ever received complaints from family members that you are not 100 percent giving the vacation hours to the family? Sounds familiar, most of us plan the best vacation but would tend to carry work laptops along with to make sure the official activities are running smoothly though you are on a personal trip. The whole idea behind power on the laptop is to just check the emails and reply urgent questions and attain self satisfaction that things are fine at work too. But your spouse and children may not welcome this gesture. There are ways to balance both of them.

Set a notice with brief details of your vacation plan to your immediate supervisor, team members and frequent client contacts well in advance before your vacation plan. Do not leave any critical work open until the last day before the trip. Do not create dependency of any problem on only you. Share your open issues with another team member and provide insight to the solutions before you leave for the trip. Provide alternate contact person details in case of any issues along with you're out of office messages. Don't carry your mobile device with the telephone number shared with work. Participate in all the activities along with your family members.

Make sure you power on the laptop only to check your emails not to work on any solution. Reply only to the critical questions or emails, do not reply to least priority emails during your vacation and create expectation to your team that you are available through emails. This might show you occupied on your vacation completely with official queries and you would tend to make your family unhappy with less participation along with them on all the fun filled adventures. After all Vacation is once in a year, do not break it with your pre occupied work issues or thoughts.

Travel Insurance Rates

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Probably the biggest factors when calculating travel insurance premiums is the length of the cover required. If you are taking a two-week vacation, there is a much lower risk than if you are making a yearlong voyage around the world. That said, there are many annual travel insurance policies that cover all the trips you make in a single year and if you make more than a couple of separate trips, annual protection may work out cheaper. Often family protection policies are not too much more expensive than a single person’s policy so if you get the whole family insured together you are also likely to save.

Another big factor is where you are travelling. While some countries represent more health risks, as they are more dangerous, it is also a fact that poorer countries often have far lower medical costs so insurance tends to be highest for travellers in North America and Europe, with the US specifically recognised as having high health care costs. If you plan special high-risk activities such as skiing or mountain climbing you will either need separate insurance for this occasion, or to have the activity specifically added to your policy, as there is a good chance it will be excluded.

Insurance premiums are calculated according to several risk factors. These are the factors identified by the insurance company as most likely to have an impact on the insured against risk occurring. Insurance is a significant cost associated with the item insured and should not be rushed into. It is always a good idea to shop around for the best price available. Insurance premiums will vary considerably from insurer to insurer so do your homework.

Look up the various insurance companies you are interested in and ask them for a quote. They can usually give you a rough estimate fairly quickly and even more exact quotes should also be possible if you provide more details and wait. You should also look up insurers online and get instant quotes from their website. This is a very fast and effective way of shopping around. You will get a good idea of what prices to expect. You can also experiment with the quotation websites to see what effect it makes to your premium price if you select different options. With all insurance policies you will have a number of options that affect the price of the policy. Therefore you should think about these options and if there are risks that you do not wish to cover then let the insurer know as your premium should become cheaper.

You should also try to make sure you do not double insure. It is a principle of insurance that you cannot benefit from the insured event’s occurrence. So you cannot get paid twice even if you have two insurance policies. So if a risk is already covered by one policy, again let your insurer know so they can remove it from their calculation.

Learn Why the Stimulus Bill is Making Getting a H1B Work Visa Impossible & How You Can Still Get One

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It is amazing how the devil is always in the details but Governments always find a way to put in crazy additions to new legislation. Then they distract the media with other controversies so the bill becomes law without any debate at all about their new plans.

The new stimulus package will severely restrict immigration for the biggest companies in the world who traditionally are the biggest employers of foreign works under the H-1B work visa for non-immigrants.

TARP (or the Troubled Asset Relief Program) initially introduced by the Bush Administration and now carried on by Obama's team was the first major bailout for the US banking system and the finance industry in general that passed late last year.

Essentially it worked where the Government via the Federal Reserve would buy toxic assets and take an equity stake of the banking industry to improve their balance sheet position and thus be able to lend more freely again. Thus this would free the credit markets as people would be able to borrow to buy homes stopping the real estate pricing crash which was the initial spark that help cause the problem. Also people would able to get credit to start or continue their businesses and hot have to lay people off or shut down. Then finally consumers may feel more comfortable spending money again on retail, travel, services, etc. which all helps grow the economy.

Now when the Obama Stimulus bill passed only a week ago, it virtually became illegal (although not in so many words) for firms receiving this money to hire foreign workers under the H-1B visa.

Why?

Well US Companies who received TARP funding have to strictly advertise and make every effort to hire US workers and prove it before they can even consider a foreign worker under as US work visa like H-1B.

When you consider the companies that have received this funding include Bank of America, Citigroup and JP Morgan Chase among others massive organizations. Then consider the amount of US workers laid off in recent months have hit record levels in recent months particularly in these sectors (600K in January alone which is close to 10 times the annual H-1B visa quota of 65,000) and you can see it is a problem.

The answer is to seek out companies who have completely been immune from the problems and have no relation to TARP and the Stimulus bill at all.

The best 2 industries include,

- Health which actually was only industry to have a job increase in January in the US and because of the nature of the demand will not suffer. There is so much money in this industry many are ensure how to spend it.

- Education because more and more people are going back to school after being laid off and current students are continuing their education to avoid entering the workforce right now. The second stimulus bill is going to help this sector heavily both directly and indirectly for private and public institutions without the hiring restrictions.

Relax, Don't Max Out Your Two Weeks Off From Work

Image : http://www.flickr.com

In a year, workers can only take two weeks off from work. That's a lucky break because the unfortunate can only take a week off. Whatever, don't nuke your plans; devise a way to enjoy a 14-day break before flying off to Costa Rica.

Globe Trekker at Your End

After watching several episodes of the Globe Trekker, you're ready to pack up and leave the bone-chilling weather. The idea is great, but fortunately, your break is scheduled for summer; you can't trade the slush for sun and sea. With no option now, you can only watch more Globe Trekker episodes, Lost, or Saturday Night Basketball, just to lull your wanderlust until summer.

In-between wishful thinking and TV episodes, mentally go over the preparatory routine same as last year. Decide where to leave the dog and the houseplants, when to make the embassy inquiries, when to schedule shots, and how to settle other pressing matters before taking off for distant airports with family in tow.

Make up your choice - Greece for the June Miaoulia Festival, or see the famous nearby Patmos Island where God is said to have appeared. Toss a coin - heads for Solomon Islands, and tails for Costa Rica. It's hard to make a choice if you only have two weeks to squeeze in the new sights and sounds.

But it is unwise to make every day of the 14-day break a sightseeing marathon. You don't have to go to all of the shops, eat in all the cafes and restaurants, and look in every nook and cranny of Costa Rica or Greece. With a plan all mapped out, you can savor each day, enjoy your family, and have fun without the stress.

Travel Safely

To ensure your safety from any legal repercussions, check out with the Department of State and report your travel. The Department will alert you to high risk areas for your own and your family's safety. You can get information about the customs restrictions of the country to be visited and the things you cannot bring or take back with you. It is prudent to do research on the country's local laws and customs.

Learn how you can get funds from your country of origin and how to replace your passport in case you lose it. Don't forget to get an international driver's permit, if you're planning to drive yourself around for your sightseeing tour. This saves you time arguing with the local police.

Get health insurance, in case your present insurance does not cover hospitalization abroad. If you have to take medication with you, ask your physician for a certification for your prescription, or better yet, check out the foreign embassies to make sure your medication does not fall under banned narcotics.

Squeezing the Fun In

Renting a fully-furnished apartment beats hotel living. You can still watch your favorite TV shows in the evenings and have more space for the children to romp around. Meals can be delivered when you're bone-tired, and a washing machine takes care of the laundry. Rent a car, get a map, and do your sightseeing at your own pace. You don't have to wake up to an alarm clock just to catch up with the morning tour.

Do what the locals do in Costa Rica. Enjoy the Tabacon hot springs, fly the canopy, and visit the old Spanish settlement in Cartago City. Breathe in the sights and relax - there's no need to hurry. That's the trick in capturing the magic of an annual 14-day break. Hurrying through everything robs you of enjoying the character of the place. A relaxing break does wonders to your body and mind, so why hurry when you're on a break?

Home Based Travel Business - Tips to Get Started

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Starting a home based travel business can be a very promising solution to your career goals. If you want to own your own business, a travel business is a great choice to make. When you start a home business, though, there are some things that you will need to think about. First, you should know that you're not going to generate instant wealth, and you won't be getting paid 'millions to do absolutely nothing' like many opportunities claim. Starting a home based travel business takes work. However, if you do it right, it can be very rewarding in the end.

First you need to determine how much you want to make. You might think that you can't do this because you don't know what to expect, but you can. If you want to make as much money as humanly possible, you'll need to work harder than someone who chooses to start a home based travel business as a part-time thing. Once you've set your sights on the success that you want, you can then begin planning your start. You will need a dedicated office space for your business, which means that personal computers and such should have a different area of your home than your office. You should have a computer, a printer, a fax machine, and a phone line or cell phone that is dedicated to your job.

Once you have gotten all this in order, then you can move on to actually starting your business. Your home based travel business can be whatever you want it to be. You just need to sign up with the program and take the time to learn the ropes of how to sell your products and services to people. When it comes to getting such cheap vacations, it's not going to be hard to sell people on saving money. Everyone loves to save money, and if that includes taking a 5-star vacation for half price, they'll love it even more.

The great thing about having a home based travel business is that you don't really have to sell your product at all. You will have to advertise and get your business established and well-known, but vacations pretty much sell themselves. Furthermore, vacations at 50-90% discounts will sell themselves even faster. All this, plus the fact that when you have a home based travel business you can take vacations anytime you want and save just as much as the customers that you sell to.
