What kind of job will allow me to work for 6 months then travel for a while then come back and work?

I will be graduating college soon and I have been thinking about life in general and I want to find a job that would allow me to work and then leave for a while and then come back. To some this may sound crazy but I want to in essence 'collect experiences'. Thanks for the advice.

That's what I do. I do contract work for power plants across the country. You need to learn a trade though. You can do shutdowns, which usually last about 1 - 2 months, or startups, which can last up to a year or so. Make some good cash and then come back home and do whatever you want.
