1hr and 15min is kinda at my max for how much I'm willing to drive, but it depends on how much you like the job, is their a lot of traffic, is it a nice drive, do you have a car that gets good gas millage, are you ok with being in the car 3-4 hours a day, etc
Are you trying to figure out if is worth of you to drive 1 and 1/4 hours to work time wise or cost wise? Both? It depends on what is the mileage you get on your commuting tool. I am lucky that I have a motocycle, so I started to commute on it now, it cut the commute time down from 45 min. to 30 min, and I am getting 55m/g instead of 20m/g.
Well, other solution would be moving close to work..that would solve both problems. good luck on whatever you are trying to figure out here..
To me it wouldn't be worth it....if it's 1 hr 15 minutes away that usually means you would probably have to give yourself 2hrs due to traffic/accidents. So your spending all most all of your time traveling or working.
I would rather work closer to home and have a smaller salary.
AndrewK made some really good points. Also, do you have children that you need to pick up by a certain hour?
Keep in mind, that if you move closer to work, you may pay higher rental fees, but it may be worth it if you think about gas prices now and in the future.
I wouldn't drive 1 hour & 15 minutes each way! Think of the gas you will need. I drive 45 minutes each way & hate it. Keep in mind that is 2 1/2 hours a DAY that you would have to drive. (Can you move closer to the job?)
