Do i get to write off travel expense for driving to work every day?

I know it may sound stupid, but i drive to work and it is nearly 45 miles one way. At the end of the day i have already driven 100 miles and i spend nearly 40 bucks every 4th day. Can i write that off as an expense to earn the income?

Please advice. Thanks

Nope. I write off mileage, but I can only write off things like leaving the office to go meet a client. My trips to and from the office are not deductible. Tragically.

You could always do it, and see if you get audited, but that's never a good idea.

Unless you are self-employed and your business requires you to drive a lot, then yes you can write it of as a travel expense.

If you are employee, then no you can't write of travel expenses. Its like writing of your work clothes for travel expenses.

Sorry, nope!
