Flights - New Zealand

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Every year, thousands of backpackers head down under each year to work and to travel.

However, an increasing number of travellers are choosing to visit New Zealand - home of the kiwi, the Lord Of The Rings films and the All Blacks rugby team, amongst other things.

Flights to New Zealand can vary in price depending on not only the length of your stay, but the time of year in which you choose to travel.

Cheap flights can usually be found during the off-peak midwinter season - which occurs from June to July and September - but expect to pay a little bit more if you are looking to spend Christmas down under.

When searching for flights to New Zealand, consider breaking some of the journey in parts in order to save money. Popular destinations en-route includes Singapore, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Many travelers choose to start their excursions in the Northern Island capital Auckland, traveling down through sprawling national parks and on to the nation's capital. Ferries from the bays around Wellington travel down through to the Southern Island, with its' gleaming lakes and fjords.

Some companies offer the opportunity to buy 'open jaw' tickets - which allow you to fly into one city and out of another.

With an open jaw ticket, cross-country journeys are popular with many backpackers. So you could fly to a North Island city such as Auckland, travel and work for months at a time, before flying back home from a South Island such as Christchurch.

For travel within the country, you can get a good deal on domestic flights. However if you'd like to take in some of New Zealand's spectacular scenery, bus services offer competitive prices - which vary during the various holiday seasons - on a range of routes, which offer door-to-door service and even a bit of driver commentary about areas of interest.

If you are looking to travel and work in New Zealand, you need to ensure that you have applied for a Working Holiday Scheme Visa (WHSV) which allows you to stay in the country for up to 23 months - with the option of working for one employer for at least 12 of those months.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Las Vegas has been one of the main tourist destinations of the world, as it is known as the "Entertainment Capital of the World." This city is popular for its casinos and nightclubs along with some major tourist attractions such as the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Las Vegas is said to have a very dry climate, as it is situated in the middle of a large desert. There are various tours in this city that are organized for tourists in order to show them the main highlights of Las Vegas. Amongst these tours, there are certain sightseeing safari tours called the Las Vegas desert tours that take the tourists to the most fascinating geographic locations such as the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Colorado River Rafting, Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Area 51, Gold Mines, and Ghost Towns in the Mojave Desert. These desert tours are generally half day or full day packages and offer free pick up and drop to tourists from their hotels.

Las Vegas desert tours offer tourists the chance to see the American Southwest in its most beautiful and primitive state by capturing the incredible sandstone formations, wild horses, Big Horn Sheep, Rabbits, Eagles, Hawks and a spectacular variety of wild-flowers and cacti on the camera. Each desert tour takes a number of stops at unique spots so that the tourists can take the best photographs of the west. The transport provided by these tours is mostly a seven passenger luxurious four-wheel drive vehicles and a luxurious motor coach for the Grand Canyon South Rim tours. Jamaican Holidays

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Holidays in Jamaica include Christian holidays as well as Labor Day (May 23), Independence Day (6 August), Emancipation Day (1 August), and National Heroes Day (18 October). These holidays provide an opportunity for tourists to experience the true essence of Jamaica through its varied culture and active nightlife. Jamaica also observes public holidays, including Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday, Christmas Day (Dec 25), and Boxing Day (Dec 26).

Although, it feels like holiday time all year round in Jamaica, public holidays are great for embarking on a tour to the Caribbean. Many Internet sites and directories list the holidays and anniversaries that are celebrated in Jamaica. Some may also be found listed in the various travel guides and local newspapers and journals.

With its balmy weather, Jamaica is more of a year-round destination. Nevertheless, it has a distinct High Holiday season running roughly from mid-December through mid-April. Hotels charge their highest prices during this peak winter period, when visitors fleeing cold north winds crowd the island to enjoy the sun-basked beaches.

The off-season in Jamaica (approximately mid-April to mid-December) amounts to a summer sale. On the whole, hotel rates are cut at a startling twenty to sixty percent. Some package-tour charges are lowered by as much as twenty percent of the original, and individual tour airfares are reduced from five to ten percent. Additionally, airline seats and hotel room rates are favorable when bookings are done in bulk for family tours or for large travel groups.

The curse of Jamaican weather, also called the hurricane season, officially lasts from early June to late November. Satellite weather forecasts usually give ample warning so that safety measures can be taken. Although, the advantages of off-season travel outweigh the disadvantages, there are drawbacks to summer travel.

Jamaican hoteliers save their serious repairs and their major renovations until the off-season and hence, the services are often reduced during this time. Not all restaurants and bars in the resorts are fully operational. The number of staff personnel is also considerably sized down. Thus, although holiday time is a good occasion for starting a Jamaican vacation, all the other aspects should also be considered before taking up any tour package.

Travel With Friends - A Good Experience or a Disaster?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

As I always say, sometimes there's nothing like traveling alone. In any case, selecting the appropriate company will make you enjoy your trip on a different way. I wouldn't say better or worse, but simply different. Let's take a look at how travel with friends can be brought to success and what not to do to avoid problems.

From the perspective of a traveler that has done a lot on its own and has traveled with friends, I can already tell you that you need to be very careful in the "selection process". And let's focus in this process, because many times you simply can't influence a lot on it.

We can't change from one day to the other the friends we've got. The problem many people has is that their friends are just there to go out on a party and that's all the kind of relationship they are ready to get involved in. If you ask them further than fun and amusement, they'll fail. When it comes to travel with friends, these are the people that will make your stay a disaster.

When you travel with friends, even if many people travels to go out and have fun, the experience you are having is pretty much different than what you may think. You are going to live together, 24 hours a day, you are going to sleep in the same room and do all your intimate things close together with them. This can create conflict in many ways that you will not even see it coming.

An important factor when you travel with friends and you really can't select them is to adopt a position of maximum relaxation within the group. The less you try to impose things the better it will go. The less you shout, the better it will go, and the most you try to be impartial the more you will enjoy your stay. Everyone wants to do a different thing. By nature. We love to say the opposite as the other is saying, just only because we want to be original. Let everyone have their say and then take informed decisions on that. Never get angry or you'll pay the price.

In case you are able to select the people, the best you can do is to look for easy characters. The easier a person is, the more quickly you will solve problems. People that adapts to everything. And this does not mean that they always agree with you, it just means that they are prepared whatever it comes in front of them. These are also the people that when an external problem arises are able to face it instead of hiding behind the group. You look for decided people with an spirit to discover the world. Avoid all the ones that are traveling to go out at night and meet local girls or guys. That'll bring only problems to your trip.

When it comes to selecting if traveling with males and females, the decision is even more complex. An ideal is to have a balanced holiday is to mix girls and guys, even if this can create some conflict at times. If you get a group of guys you'll go on a more adventurous holiday. If you get a group of only girls you'll have a more relaxed vacation with more commodities. Probably even more cultural. That's why a good mixture would be the best.

In the end, if you want to travel with friends, just do it. In the worst of the cases, you'll gain an experience or some tales to explain when back home.

Applying For an Infant Passport

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Traveling with an infant brings unique challenges for first time parents. Car seats, diaper bags, changes of clothing and more become part of the new travel routine. Along with all of the standard baby gear, there may be one more thing to consider bringing along: an infant passport.

Passports are becoming increasingly important. Most borders cannot be crossed today without a passport, even the Mexican and Canadian borders. Infants are not exempt from this requirement. You cannot add an infant to a U.S. passport. Every citizen, including babies, must have his or her own passport. Anyone trying to cross a border with an infant who doesn't have a passport may be regarded with suspicion. Carrying a passport for an infant when you travel is just as important as carrying your own.

New parents often wonder when they should apply for an infant passport. The best answer is: as soon as possible. Obtaining a passport for an infant should be considered routine, just as applying for a birth certificate is. Even if you don't have international travel plans in your immediate future, it's still a good idea to apply for one. It usually takes about six weeks to have your application processed. Those who want to expedite the process and receive a passport in about two weeks can pay an extra fee of $35. However, by simply applying for it early on you can avoid this fee. You'll also avoid the stress of trying to obtain a passport while busy making travel plans.

Infant passports are obtained in the same manner as a child or adult passport. Infant passport applications may be downloaded from various travel service providers and government agencies. You may also obtain one in person from your local post office or immigration office. Infant passport requirements include:

*Presentation of your baby's birth certificate. If your child was born outside the United States, you must present the child's Naturalization Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship along with the birth certificate.

*Two official passport photos. They must be regulation size (2 inches by 2 inches) and should be taken by a professional photographer. Home-produced photographs are not accepted.

*The application fee, which is $40. Remember, it will cost an extra $35 if you need to obtain it faster than six weeks.

The baby need not appear in person to be granted a passport. However, the person applying for it must be able to vouch for the identity of the child and present his or her own identification. Infant passports are valid for five years.

Traveling aside, it's useful to obtain a passport for an infant for other reasons. It is often the only form of official picture ID that a baby can obtain. Sometimes picture ID is required for registering for preschool or kindergarten, or may even be required for some domestic airline flights. Having official picture identification for your child is never a bad idea. Applying for it right from the beginning may save parents from unforeseen trouble down the road.

Important Tips For Planning Your High School Senior Trip

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Completing high school is an important event, so it's no wonder graduates want to celebrate their accomplishments by embarking on a senior trip. This milestone in our lives, marking the transition from adolescence to adulthood, is a perfect reason to take an exciting trip, celebrating your achievements.

The very first step in planning your senior trip is to decide where you'd like to go and how long you'll be able to stay there. If the trip is with the entire senior class, you may have less of a say in the destination than you would with friends or family. Just be sure to choose a location that everyone is comfortable with and all are in agreement. Taking along a responsible adult on a senior trip is a great idea especially if you'll be traveling overseas.

Next, it's time to choose how you're getting to your vacation spot. If you're traveling by plane you'll want to make sure you book your trip several months in advance to get the best possible flight price. A bus or car may not be an option depending on your destination, but both choices are considerably cheaper than flying. However, if you're under time constraints, driving may not be an option.

Once you know where you're going, it's now time to decide where you'll stay for the duration of your trip. This can be tricky, especially planning from a distance. But there are numerous web sites available that outline all the specifics of various hotels and motels in literally thousands of locations around the globe. You could also contact the local area chamber of commerce or even a travel agent to learn all the ins and outs about where you'll be staying.

Once you're actually on the trip you can better decide how your party will handle food and meals. Some hotels and resorts offer package deals where all meals are included, but be sure to read the fine print beforehand so you'll know exactly what to expect.

Deciding on what activities you'd like to participate in during your vacation will help you to pack the proper clothing and accessories. There's no point taking a suitcase full of sweaters if you plan to spend every waking moment in the pool at the mountain resort you'll be visiting.

Be aware that, if you're traveling out of the country, you may need a passport. It's always smart to carry identification with at least two phone numbers of people to contact in case of an emergency. You also should give the name, number and location of wherever you'll be staying on your trip to a few people back home. It's also wise to list your blood type and whether you have any allergies or medical conditions on your identification card as well.

With a little proper planning and some common sense, you'll be able to have a safe and memorable senior trip that you will talk about for years to come.
